Campbell Back For Last Gasp Match

Sol Campbell, who missed Pompey's win over Manchester United and defeat at Watford is in contention for Saturday's home match against Newcastle United, according to the Portsmouth News today.

Campbell missed the last two matches due to an inflamed Achilles but after responding well to treatment, it is expected that he will line up against the Geordies in what is likely to be the very last chance of Pompey realising any hope of getting into Europe next season.

The fitness of Lauren and Benjani is still under review but indications are that both may well be available for selection.

Hope so. Just leaves which out of Bill & Ben plays left back.

Good stuff, come on benji and toddy get fit and keep lua lua off the bench he has become a liability
tommo3146
The news that Toddy was to be offered a new deal was the best I heard last week, the news Sol could be back this weekend is the best this week... We've missed him. The defence looked a shambles without him and Lauren on Monday... With Sol in the back four Stefanovic has looked ok at left back whereas Traore has just looked like Traore! Pamarot was awful on Monday so getting Lauren back in would be a major boost also...
pompeyrug
If we don't have Campbell for the rest of the seaons we are to wind up 13th again at the end of the season.
Lysimachus
Even without Sol I can't see us slipping that low mate...
pompeyrug
We need our strongest team out, the squad players are not up to it, you only need to check out the reserves' record
paultsmouth
Now here's a guy who earns at least 50k a week, works at least 4 hours a day, and never moans, ever. Top man, give him a two year contract.
The Rabbi
Let's hope he plays the Toon with Sol.....uh sorry about that one.
pompeygray
Rabbi are you talking about Kanu?
russellm
what a difference campbell makes i thought dejan was poor
VitalPompeyAdmin
Dejan has looked poor for most of the season, but since he's returned - when Sol has been in the defence aswell - he's looked far better than before his injury...
pompeyrug
Like the Bill and Ben quip, S-Matt, but my money's on Little Weed forcing her way back into the team after recovering from a good forking.
Et_tu_Pompeii
i wonder if the contract for Toddy talk is just to gee up LL, or worse because we cant get access to Gaydamak seniors money, wont have a large transfer fund and consequently we wont get that 18+ goals a season striker. Another punt for the yak ????
russellm
Admin Dejan is experienced but is not mobile at the best of times, but i really hadnt anticipated him being shown up by watford
russellm
We will never be able to access Gadamak senior's money russell as a) it is all frozen at the moment and b) Sasha has his own funds and is not in any way linked with his father's finances. We will however have a pretty good sum of money in the transfer war chest for the summer.
TruePompeyBlue
I must admit i have heard different from some press types but well i hope your right TPB
russellm
lets hope harry can use that money for somebody under 42
russellm
Apparently, even BBC South say he is not playing - odd really but then of course it did come from that fountain of reliable knowledge, The News!
TruePompeyBlue
Sol is a star whose perfomance has been above average whole season.
Mudhara
I agrre with you The rabbi. Campbell never complains and Todorov has not made noise with the one year contract signed. Come on Kanu
