Todorov Offered New Contract

Todorov Offered New Contract

Long serving Portsmouth striker Svetoslav Todorov has been offered a new one year deal by manager Harry Redknapp, which should please many of Pompey's supporters who feel he can still provide a cutting edge to what is currently a lacklustre strike force.

Todorov was the club's top scorer during their promotion and championship winning season but an horrendous knee injury during pre-season training meant his missed the club's first ever season in the Premiership. This was to cause him further problems in the second season and it was only towards the end of their third season in the Premiership when he began to play more regularly for Pompey. Indeed, it was his goals that helped Portsmouth to stage one of the most dramatic relegation escapes in history last season. Toddy was shipped out on loan to Wigan Athletic in the winter of this latest season but injury was to cause him to miss many matches there too.

The announcement of Toddy's new offer emerged in the Portsmouth News today and will be regarded by many Pompey supporters as the right decision. Harry Redknapp was quoted in the paper as saying 'I've spoken to Toddy and told him I want him to be here next year. He'll be in the squad against Manchester United tomorrow. Peter Storrie, our chief executive, will have a chat with him and we'll see where we go from there. Nothing surprised me about what happened when he came off the bench against Fulham. He's a good player.'

I'd walk to Bulgaria and back if it meant Toddy signed the deal! I may just get back in time to see him score his 20th goal of next season as he signs his next... This is the best news I've heard all week... Come on Toddy sign the deal and mark it with the winner in a Pompey victory over United tomorrow! I see a Pompey win after an inspired Jamo performance...

Best start walking then pompeyrug as I can see him signing without any problem - but excellent news.

Excellent news is putting in mildly, maybe this will give others a kick up the arse they need... I was already on my way but turned back as I don't want to miss the United or Watford game... Will set off, laptop with endless battery supply in hand, making sure I connect into wireless networks aplenty along the way as to not miss out on anything on Tuesday...

Excellent, the guy deserves it BUT it's no good if HR won't play him.

Apparently Harry is hinting that we will be playing 4-5-1 against the Red Devils tomorrow - what the hell is he playing at? Why the hell is he going 4-5-1 at home? We cannot play that formation, it will invite United to come at us from the back, no pressure on their defence at all as the legless and past it Kanu will not give anything! It owuld not be so bad if it was going to be Benjani up front as the lone striker, but Harry is said to be looking to play Kanu instead!

Why not just give them the points Harry, what a stupid decision to play such a formation at home!

I'm afraid Harry's been making mistakes all this year to a greater or lesser extent. Lets hope that this is a deliberate piece of misinformation to persuade Old Red Nose to play a weaker team that will be easy not to lose to. Stranger things have happened, you know . . . .

I've probably defended, maybe even turned a blind eye to a lot of 'arry's 'strange' calls this season but playing one up front in a home match is crazy, United or not. Making this lone man Kanu probably more so... When we've beaten United at home in previous years we've had a go, caused the problems and got at them. If we don't do this we don't have a chance as they'll break us down, under strength side, one eye on Europe next week or not... I would love 'arry to start with Toddy or LuaLua and Benji...

All three! Wow that'd surprise them - and us by the sound of it.

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
