Worthy of a new deal?

Worthy of a new deal?

So, Danny Rose, as we know, isn't going to play again this season. As things stand this would mean he'll not pull on a Pompey shirt again as his contract expires in the summer.

However, Rose has, which isn't unexpected as we had an inkling of as much, confirmed 'talks are ongoing' and he feels these are 'positive at the moment.'

Rose told BBC South Today: 'It's a nice feeling to know I'm still wanted at the club. Talks are ongoing and very positive at the moment. We're hoping to have something resolved in the next couple of weeks and I can only thank the club for keeping faith that I'll make a full recovery and be just as useful next season.'

Having sustained a broken leg in the win over Northampton on 30th December - when the midfielder was contesting a drop ball with John-Joe O'Toole - Rose, 29, has had a nail and screws inserted in his left tibia.

As you would expect it was 'very painful at the time' but a lesson has been learned and he'll not be contesting another situation like that again.

'In future, I think if a referee decides a drop ball's the way to restart, I'll leave it to someone else or just kick the ball straight back,' added Rose.

Most of us were amazed when Kenny Jackett wasn't selecting Rose earlier in the season, when he was restored to the starting XI it wasn't coincidence Pompey's form improved as he was instrumental in his performance.

Had Rose not been injured I think it would be a no-brainer about him getting a new deal, despite this setback will it really make that much difference? Well, this is where your opinion is needed, so cast a vote in the poll.

What the poll is asking - Should Danny Rose get a new deal?

Options to vote - Yes, get it done ASAP
Yes, once he's proven his fitness
No, regardless of his injury
I'll sit on the fence - KJ knows best
