Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities - past or present - who have a birthday on this day.

3/1/1906: Jimmy Easson
3/1/1934: Rees Thomas
3/1/1944: John Milkins
3/1/1976: Angelos Basinas

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Jimmy Easson, Rees Thomas, John Milkins and Angelos Basinas - the Pompey players from the Blues' past born on this day.

Easson was well before my time and unknown to me - the same applies to Thomas and Milkins. However, I do know of Milkins by name though and stories people have told.

Basinas is the one I recall well. It didn't - for whatever reason, maybe change of managers didn't help - really work for him with Pompey but he was a decent footballer who probably warranted more of a chance than he got?

Now onto the games previously played.

Played - 16
Won - 4
Drawn - 3
Lost - 9

I do recall a good few of the games and can claim the most recent at Fratton Park. A defeat to Hull in 2011 and the FA Cup third round draw with Bristol City in 2009 as we defended our defence of the competition won the previous May.

What are your memories of Easson - too early for anyone, Thomas, Milkins - both possibly before the time of most - and/or Basinas from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today - if so what are the memories from them too?

11,09,04&76....Can't remember 11 but do remember the others even though 11 was the most recent....Definitely at 11 though...09 was a miserable performance defending our Cup,but we did win the replay though,04 was my only win on this date so that's good...Schemmel's only goal for us & a late winner from the Yak( in the Milton End) & finally 76, a great game remembered by Cahill kicking lumps out of Trevor Francis( wouldn't get away with that now) & we won the replay....2 birthdays for me Milkins a big hero as he was my first Pompey goalie & Basinas, as you said, probably not given much of a chance here, but couldn't have been that bad as he played many times for Greece & I'm pretty sure was in the side that won the European Championships

OMG. 30 years ago, 1988 and our first win over the scummers in a generation & some. I was there & we just couldn't believe it. To beat them at their place, amazing day. 2009 & as FA Cup holders, took my daughter to her first Pompey game. Also there in 2013.

Pompey MotM at Rotherham

Nathan Thompson's performance was seen as the best one from a Pompey player against Rotherham in the defeat in South Yorkshire at the weekend.

Worthy of a new deal?

So, Danny Rose, as we know, isn't going to play again this season. As things stand this would mean he'll not pull on a Pompey shirt again as his contract expires in the summer.

Sickening Rotherham winner

Losing on Saturday was bad enough, the fact this was an added time winner more so. The cherry on the cake was the fact Rotherham's goal came from ex-Pompey full back Joe Mattock.
