Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities - past or present - who have a birthday on this day.

17/12/1908: Abraham Smith
17/12/1981: Courtney Pitt
17/12/1988: Mikkel Andersen

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Abraham Smith, Courtney Pitt and Mikkel Andersen - the Pompey players from the Blues' past born on this day.

Clearly Smith is way before my time, but Pitt came in on loan didn't he? I think from Chelsea? However, I cannot recall too much about him but did see him a few times.

Andersen, well, I do remember very well. I know the goalkeeper came from Reading for a loan spell and did pretty well. I also know he did play some first team football for the Royals but no idea what's happened to him since?

Now onto the games previously played.

Played - 14
Won - 11
Drawn - 3
Lost - 1

An amazing day with only one defeat suffered. I can recall a number of games - not that we've played too many in recent years - but can only claim the one myself.

Due to the rail strike action I missed Hartlepool in 2016 but saw the one at Fratton Park before that - the win over Heerenveen in 2008 to end our UEFA Cup adventure. Chances are it'll be the last European game we ever see us play but what a journey that way taking us from Portugal to Germany, including a visit to Fratton of the mighty AC Milan.

What are your memories of Smith - too soon of course, Pitt and/or Andersen from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today - if so what are the memories from them too?

1966 and being one for stats Norwich was my 50th consecutive home game. Pompey were 3-0 and came storming back to nick a point.

Andersen is now back playing in his home country for Lyngby. Before that he was at FC Midtjylland and was on the bench when they beat 'that lot up the road' in the Europa League qualifying rounds in 2015.
