Kanu- Let Him Go?

Kanu- Let Him Go?

Portsmouth have now been in contract negotiations with Kanu for the best part of three months. The player clearly wants as much money as he can get, but is he worth it?

Good Points

He is easily our top scorer this season
His link-up play is fantastic
He gives us a more direct option

Doubts

Will he keep scoring?
He seems lazy off the ball (100m first half at Tottenham)
Other strikers seem to struggle to form partnerships with him

Harry Redknapp has spoke at the possibility of a contract that, based on appearances, would see him at the club for the next two years.

'We want to keep Kanu because top players are hard to find.

'We're looking at a year with him, and after a certain number of games - I think it's 20-25 - he gets another year.'

I want to know whether you think Portsmouth should renew Kanu`s contract? Have your say on below and vote on the poll to the right>>>>

say thanks for a great start to the season. here's a one year deal whatever with a second year on offer based on the number of goals (12 to 15) scored in the first. if you mention another team (Ajax or PSV) during the first season then you have to join them. No sneaking off to play friendlies for Nigeria. If any of this not adhered to then wave goodbye and sign a younger more direct striker capable of scoring goals past the first third of the season.

The Rabbis right. But, if we did get rid of Kanu we better be bloody sure we can get goals from somewhere else! a young striker is needed, & the midfield must step up!!!!!..what would we have done this season without him??
CharlieChimes
pay when play works most of the team we did it with big dunc and he was stilling banging in goals , its whether kanu will accept
MOYES IS GOD
kanu does seem to think he can bag a big contract somewhere, what he forgets is that in july no-one wanted him
paultsmouth
Ideally we wouldl like a young striker but so long as we can get a goalscorer if he's 30 or thereabouts and will score goals lets brong him in... I like Kanu and I'mnot sure how much of what he is meant to have said is true but if he wants to go let him go with the thanks for what he did August - December (so far!)... I'd love 'arry to break the bank to bring in Nugent...

No one is bigger than the team. N*****u seems to think he is some sort of global superstar. If he can bag a huge contract elsewhere then leave. And take his rose tinted spectacles with him.
The Rabbi
the best thing about all this is that the site thinks his name is a swearword. priceless.

“I have also been travelling four hours shuttling between London and Portsmouth while I also give 100 per cent every time I play. So it shows a lot of sacrifice and commitment on my part." N.Kanu Obviosuly not enough commitment mate. P i s s off now before you become very unpopular
The Rabbi
haha harsh rabbi!

Don't get Kanu's point about the commute. With the money he's on, why could he not rent a place closer to training/FP? Stay there a few days a week, without having to uproot his family. Commuting from North London every day is NOT 100% commitment...living in the area is. Going to support the club you've supported since aged 7 home and away from South London is 100% commitment. Just typical of todays over-paid prima donna players who think above their station. Get real and remember how bloody lucky you are to be playing football for a living, and the income it generates, and then do as much as you can to endear yourself to the common man/woman. Thanks for your goals, but don't try holding the club to ransom, as they, as the fans do, will realise you're trying to mug us off.

Its not harsh VitalPompeyAdmin. Get kanu down any of the three stations down the town between 6 and 7.30am in the morning. If he wants to talk about commuting to London every day then talk to the commuters who do it every day for a fraction of the wage he is on. I drove up and down the A3 every day for two years without ever moaning about it in the press! i didn't even get 25k a year let alone a week! Why doesn't he buy a place in Gunwharf? well done PutneyPFC for pointing out how out of touch Kanu is, and I'm not only talking in front of goal.
