Next in (the firing) line

What footballer wouldn't want to play regular first team football? However, the left back position has become very much a cursed one for Pompey this season as it has already struck down two of the occupants.

Of course, Huddersfield loanee Tareiq Holmes Dennis, after such an impressive opening to his debut, is already out for the season after suffering knee ligament damage now - having initially had to sit behind Brandon Haunstrup - Damien McCrory has a twisted knee, picked up in only his third appearances for the Blues.

Burton loanee McCrory shouldn't be out for too long - according to what Kenny Jackett told the News this week we should know the severity on Thursday when his scan results come through - however, the Irishman will almost certainly miss the trip to Scunthorpe on Saturday, at least.

As academy graduate Haunstrup wasn't on the bench, which he hasn't in recent weeks, Dion Donohue got his chance against Fleetwood - in all honesty when he signed from Chesterfield I was convinced he arrived to fill the left back spot anyway.

Donohue, who I thought did a decent job when he came on and showed he can strike a ball sweetly too, would be expected to fill in for McCrory but will himself be hoping - as will we all - this cursed left back spot doesn't strike down another...
