18/5/1962: Barry Horne
18/5/1983: Gary O'Neil

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Ray Drinkwater, Dennis Davidson, Barry Horne and Gary O'Neil - the Pompey players from the Blues' past born on this day.

Drinkwater and Davidson were both well before my time and as much as I know of Horne well I didn't see him in a Pompey shirt.

O'Neil, I did see for Pompey and recall him with fond memories. I was at the game when he made his debut for the Blues, an appearance off the bench against Barnsley, I think it the Tykes?

Now onto the games previously played.

Played - 3
Won - 1
Drawn - 1
Lost - 1

Just the 3 games again today but quite literally nothing in it as we've won, drawn and lost.

I can claim one myself as I was at Fratton Park for the only win, a 3-1 victory over Sunderland in 2009. I recall this well, not so much the game but the fact Linvoy Primus came on for the dying embers - getting a heroes reception fitting of the man.

What are your memories of Drinkwater, Davidson - perhaps both too soon for anyone, Horne and/or O'Neil from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today - if so what are the memories from them too?

2009 and the win that made sure we had survived in the prem. A very disappointing end of season which had started with so much promise. FA Cup winners, european football and it all came crashing down, though even then we didn't see how bad the next few years were to be!

And Happy Birthdays to Barry Horne & Gary O'Neil who I saw a lot. Barry was a top player who we sadly sold to them & had a great top flight career with Everton too. Gary did a great job for us.

No midfield addition...ahead of Rotherham anyway

With Rose out for the season, on-loan Cardiff man O'Keefe for the next three months, a defensive midfielder is needed, right? They could arrive, but not ahead of Rotherham tomorrow.

Blues' line up at Rotherham?

The Pompey season continued with a draw against Scunthorpe. Well, that has been and gone so we move forward and go again against Rotherham in, obviously in League One, on Saturday.
