Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities - past or present - who have a birthday on this day...

16/5/1977: David Waterman
16/5/1992: John Marquis

Happy birthday to David Waterman and John Marquis - the Pompey players from the Blues' past born on this day.

I always thought Waterman was a better defender than credited for, not a world-beater by any means but not a bad footballer to be fair.

Marquis, it didn't really happen for him during his loan at Fratton Park - in fairness the case with some of the other numerous loan away from Millwall too. But, at Doncaster, it seemed to click for him.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played - 1
Won - 0
Drawn - 0
Lost - 1

Pompey have only ever played the one game on this day - so far - and this ended in the disappointment of a loss.

I wasn't at this 1-0 defeat for Pompey at Filbert Street, Leicester's win giving them the upper hand over the Blues in the play-off semi-final of 1993.

What are your memories of Waterman and/or Marquis from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today - if so what are the memories from them too?

There in 1993 at the Forest ground. A very late goal giving them a slender lead which proved so important. No Paul Walsh due to suspension & that really hurt us. Awful memories.

Main man for Pompey? I wouldn't think so

Harsh? Maybe, but do I really feel ex-Middlesbrough, Doncaster and Oldham forward Main will be in Pompey's 1st team, becoming a key member of Jackett's starting XI? Well, no.

Interest in Plymouth midfielder? Unfortunately not

Apparently, having stolen the League Two title from Plymouth, we'll not be taking the Pilgrims' best player, ex-Celtic midfielder Carey, currently out-of-contract at Home Park.
