Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities - past or present - who have a birthday on this day...

15/5/1937: Colin Osmond
15/5/1990: Joe Mattock

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Colin Osmond and Joe Mattock - the Pompey players from the Blues' past born on this day.

Osmond was before my time but I recall Mattock pretty fondly from his loan at Fratton Park. Had hoped he would sign but understood why he didn't, becomes a free agent again this summer I think?

Now onto the games previously played.

Played - 5
Won - 2
Drawn - 1
Lost - 2

Not too much in the 5 games played today with 2 wins, 2 defeats and a draw. But, the games that really mattered - the play-off semi-final in 2016 and 2010 FA Cup final - were lost...

I can claim the last couple as I was at Home Park for the 1-0 defeat against Plymouth in the play-offs in 2016. As the home fans ran on to the pitch at the end, the announcement made 'join us in celebrating in our success' stuck in my mind all season. How I was glad the Pilgrims lost that play-off final to Wimbledon and then threw away this seasons title. Now who is revelling in success? A play-off semi-final win ISN'T success anyway.

Heading to Wembley to face Chelsea in 2010 it really felt like it was 'meant to be' for Pompey. When they hit the woodwork five times more so. However, from the minute the Blues got the penalty I had a feeling Kevin Prince Boateng would miss and the FA Cup wouldn't be ours again. The rest, as they say, is history as the other Blues won 1-0.

What are your memories of Osmond and/or Mattock from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today - if so what are the memories from them too?

Ohhh 2010 & what could have been had we scored our penalty. Still had a great & was very proud of our team. There in 2004 and our final home game & finished our first season with a banging 5-1 win over Boro. The Yak scoring 4 and later joined Boro. Heartache at Plymouth viewed from a pub tv a year ago.

Main man for Pompey? I wouldn't think so

Harsh? Maybe, but do I really feel ex-Middlesbrough, Doncaster and Oldham forward Main will be in Pompey's 1st team, becoming a key member of Jackett's starting XI? Well, no.

Interest in Plymouth midfielder? Unfortunately not

Apparently, having stolen the League Two title from Plymouth, we'll not be taking the Pilgrims' best player, ex-Celtic midfielder Carey, currently out-of-contract at Home Park.
