Toddy Stays and Plays

Toddy Stays and Plays

Harry Redknapp has crushed rumours that Todorov will be following Andy Cole out the door. Cole has joined Birmingham City on loan until the end of the season, which has re-opened the door for a Toddy comeback.

Harry Redknapp said;

'I'm happy with what I've got. I've got four strikers to choose from. I've got Toddy, Benjani, Lualua and Kanu, so I'm okay.

'This time last year I had only two fit strikers - Toddy and Benjani. We've got eight games left, and Toddy will be involved. He's had his share of injuries this season, but he's fit now.'

Todorov has other concerns with his Fratton Park contract running out at the end of the season. The striker desperately wants his contract to be renewed with a club he "loves" playing for.

Toddy said;

'I'm surprised Andy Cole is going. It's been frustrating for me not playing. When I've been given the chance, I've scored goals.

'We'll see what happens now - hopefully I will get a chance. I love playing for Pompey and have always tried my best. I don't care who I play alongside - they're all good strikers.

'As for my future, everything is up in the air because my contract expires at the end of the season. We'll see what happens.'

In my personal opinion, I don`t think the club will not renew his contract. Although like 99% of Pompey fans I do admire him… I`m under no allusions that he`s the answer to our problems. We need two or three top class forwards and I currently see none. Come the end of the season I would allow Todorov, Kanu and Cole to leave (maybe even Lua?)

What do you think?

Great news. Give Toddy a run. He won't let us down.
storagematt
no he won't but will he score on a regular basis
VitalPompeyAdmin
i suppose Admin no one else is scoring so what have we got to lose. as for the article i have said the same as you before i think Cole, Toddy & kanu will leave and i think Lua Lua's position depends on his attitude. But to attract those strikers we all want in the short term we need to climb places because our available budget is estimated to drop some 2.5 million £ + compared to our previous 6th place and Euro place through loss of TV / commercial money receipt.

Yer we need a goalscorer
VitalPompeyAdmin
hes scored as many as benji!

Toddy has always found the net, he did well for us when we needed goals at the end of last season and I am certain he will score for us now. Andy Cole may have been but is now a has-been, whereas Toddy is still is and will not be a has been for a long time yet. Welcome back Toddy, it will be great to see you bulge the net again.

My head says Toddy will stay my heart says he'll go. I'd love to see Toddy stay, if he gets a chance and scores then surely he will have to? Not worried about Cole leaving, as far as I'm concerned he can stay away... Kanu started like a man possessed, a man that wanted to be here, hasn't looked so much like this for a while. If the price is right I'd like us to keep him, if not he can go too... Benjani doesn't score, may have been pretty crap against Reading but I still like him, he's a definite keeper for me... LuaLua, frustrates the hell out of me but we have to keep him too...

That should have said my heart says Toddy will stay my head says he'll leave shouldn't it...

I still dont think Toddy is likley to get a game. remember, Harry recons he couldnt play cole with Kanu because he needs a player up their with Kanu to stretch the defence (Benji,& also Lua if hes feeling like it) not, in my opinion, a pocher like Toddy. Harry is unlikley to drop Kanu very oftern due to his record so far. I think we are going to see Kanu & either Benji or Lua fro most of the games left this season. I love Toddy, & I love his loyalty & attitidue towards the club, but things are going to change at the end of the season big time, & im sure hes going t be one of the casualties!

I don't think, or expect Toddy to start many, if any games but I'm almost certain he'll have a part to play from the bench and will poach some goals...
pompeyrug
Who is the weakest link, who has not been poaching those goals. Who has not been banking on Pompey all the way. Cole you are the weakest link...bye bye !
pompeygray
I think you need to be changing you ID pompeygray...
pompeyrug
harsh but fair, lets be honest none of them look great
russellm
When you sit back and genuinely think about it though the forwards we have are not out and out goalscorers are they... Andrew Cole was the most natural goalscorer but it didn't really work for him here, after that comes Toddy...
pompeyrug
lets keep Toddy and play him like we did last season when he was highly effective especially with Benjani.
The Rabbi
It's worth a shot isn't it Rabbi... What do we have to lose? Not a lot...
pompeyrug
Toddy and Benji for me with Kanu and Lua coming on after 60 minutes if they don't score !
