Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities - past or present - who have a birthday on this day...

17/4/1954 Jimmy McIlwraith

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Jimmy McIlwraith - the Pompey player from the Blues' past born on this day.

McIlwraith was before my time and not really known to me either to be honest.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played - 18
Won - 6
Drawn - 8
Lost - 4

Draws, 8, are the most common outcome from the 18 played on this day. However, with 6 also win and only 4 lost it does make it a good day.

I've only managed the one today, the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Fratton Park in 2012 - the most recent game played. But do recall the Charlton defeat and Manchester United victory well.

What are your memories of McIlwraith from his Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today - if so what are the memories from them too?

Duo sign professional Pompey deals

Will Jez Bedford and Theo Widdrington be the future Pompey midfield? We'll certainly hope so, clearly the Blues do too or they wouldn't have signed professional deals at Fratton Park.

Nathan Thompson - A Swindon perspective

Prior to his departure for Wigan, Paul Cook wanted Nathan Thompson at Pompey. Interest was retained by Kenny Jackett, who completed his free transfer signing from Swindon last week.

Main man for Pompey? I wouldn't think so

Harsh? Maybe, but do I really feel ex-Middlesbrough, Doncaster and Oldham forward Main will be in Pompey's 1st team, becoming a key member of Jackett's starting XI? Well, no.
