Andy Cole: I'm Off to City

Andy Cole has shocked Portsmouth fans by demanding to play… or he`ll leave.

Cole, who joined Portsmouth from Man City in the summer, will now leave on loan to Birmingham until May 30th, when he will return to Fratton Park (should a permanent deal not be agreed.)

Redknapp said:

'Andy came to see me and said: 'Harry, I'm 35, I want to be playing all the time.'

'I understand where Andy's coming from. He wants to play regularly. He's one of those guys who wants to be starting every game. And you've got to respect him for that.

'If he feels like that, you can't stand in his way. He's not happy to just sit back and take his money. It's been difficult fitting him into the team every week with the other strikers we've got.

'Birmingham want to take over his contract until May 30, which covers the play-offs. e's going on loan until the end of the season, but has another year here.

'So it all depends on what happens at Birmingham and what he wants to do.'

Are you surprised that Portsmouth will allow him to leave? It`s rumoured that we will still be paying a large chunk of his wages while he`s still on loan.

Let him go I say but what I cannot understand is Harry's comment "It's been difficult fitting him into the team every week with the other strikers we've got".I say "What other strikers" - we don't have any, well none to report of goal scoring wise that is.

Could agree more pompeygray, let him go and try and get Brum back in the Prem, thus earning himself a deal to play for yet another Premiership side in the hope of scoring for them to set a record... Not sure he'll be missed much to be honest, bring in Toddy...
pompeyrug
Cole had no right to demand to play, his threat once again should see him never pull on a Pompey shirt again, which will probably be the case now anyway... It doesn't come as much of a shock to me though that he's done this I have to say...

Cole is getting old so why why give him a 2 year contract?
VitalPompeyAdmin
Half a lill to buy, lots of wages, always moaning. Good riddance.

Bye Bye Andrew.
The Rabbi
Good riddance indeed... He can go and bleed Brum dry now...
pompeyrug
I can't say I'm that bothered although why we signed someone that we never play is beyond me. Why not waste the money on a young player from the lower divisions?
The Rabbi
he is too old to play everygame full 90 mins its just stupid get shut of the**** lower league is where he deserves to be, does he reckon he will get all the games at brum they are pushing for promotion and have a good strike force already
