When we either break the bank to sign a top striker that scores 20+ a year, or in years to come if we invest in a youth set up.

Well we had to play well to lose 2-0. One day when pigs or a new flag flies above the new stadium then we might beat Chelsea.

http://www.pompeyfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Squad/ReservesDetail/0,,10396~991223,00.html is this not the worst offer a football club has ever offered their season ticket holders? I feel slightly cheated.

quit moaning all the bloody time, is it any wonder the strikers aren't scoring when they have to carry you lot on their backs every game.

Steve C, lend me your rose tinted glasses for a game so that i can only see good things!!!!Come off it, one win since christmas and strikers that are not scoring just aint good, no matter where we are in the league compared to last season....or if i would have taken this position at the start of the season, and any other cliches you want to throw in!!!

I don't have rose tinted glasses to lend, but Harry told you all along it wouldn't last, truth is we don't have the players to generate the results you think we should be getting. Our early season success has come back to bite us on the bum most teams are content to try and stop us playing now. When a team comes to play football as Chelsea did we will play better. But as for the others forget it we just don't have the players to create the openings against teams who just want to try and stop us. Unless we find a way to get the ball to the strikers it wouldn't matter if we had Henry and Drogba up front. Midfield is the problem not the Strikers.

Steve C, I don't care if teams are coming here to stop us playing now, the fact is that our players don't get up for games against the less glamourous clubs, they dont even try. And that, i find, unacceptable.

It must be difficult to motivate yourself when all the opposition is trying to do is to spoil things. Unfortunately the obscene amounts of money in football are to blame, there is such a bounty on survival now that teams don't come to win they come not to lose. Pay the players the national average wage and give them huge win bonuses, goal bonuses and clean sheet bonuses then you might get all the players in every team trying, those that don't will soon hear about it from the other players in the side.

Sounds great to me steve, i've posted similar things to that on here before, but tell me why should it be hard to motivate yourself for 20,000 a week? Thats what the average person earns in a year, these blokes earn 52x the average wage surely no more motivation reqd? and i dont think thats being hard on them. I suppose us, the paying public are somewhat to blame, supply and demand and all that!

it's all a case of scale, 20,000 a week is a lot to us, to them it's just a wage. There are days when i find it difficult to motivate myself to go to work, as i'm self employed i don't get paid unless i go so i force myself, but on those days i'm not sure i'm giving 100%. It tends to be days that experience has taught me will be slow days. To relate that to Football perhaps the days when you're playing Watford or Sheffield United who you know are going to pack the midfield and make things really tough for you. I'm not saying it's the right attitude to have but sometimes it is an understandable one.

Nop, not good enough steve. I'm self employed too. NO work no pay. If i'm on a go slow and a job takes longer, i dont get any more for it. and 20,000 a week is obscene in anyone's book. No where near understandable to me.

We wanted Benni McCarthy, Obafemi Martins and Nick Anelka and got Kanu and Cole. Only Kanu's lucky streak got the goals to put us where we are today. All the posturing from Storie and the (alleged) pursuit of the aformentioned strikers and we end up with a good forward with a short lucky streak and an overpaid complete waste of space - you know which is which. My point being, that Pompey are exactly the same club as 4 years ago, have not really moved on or progressed and still cannot compete with anyone other than crap promoted clubs like Watford. Harry must wonder what's going on. Poor guy. Gaydermak is all mouth and trousers - do something, you useless git.
