'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Awford knows his side...do you?

The season is now a fraction over 2-weeks away, the time when the excitement really kicks-in and grows!

As said, I think I previously said anyway unless I was just thinking it, when August arrives that is when I definitely, no two ways about it, am usually in full Pompey focus - fortunately this coming season it is in very positive focus too, which is something I have not had in what feels an age...

Exeter at St James Park on Saturday August 9th at 3pm is when it all begins.

Putting aside those injured presently, or 'not under consideration', Andy Awford has today told the News that he knows what his starting XI on that occasion will be.

To be honest you tend to feel that the team pretty much 'picks itself' as things stand with arguably the main question marks over who starts at right back and who will partner Ben Chorley in central defence?

Considering that Chorley has been confirmed as the captain he will be one of the central defenders, right?

I am guessing that Jack Whatmough will partner him with Adam Webster and Alex Wynter battling it out for the start at right back.

The rest, all in all, pick themselves in the main...

Awford knows his first choice starting XI, further injuries - touch wood we avoid them! - aside for the game against Exeter.

Do you?

Let us know what you think that starting XI will be with some thoughts below...
