As the old cartoons would say 'that's all folks', as for the time being at least Andy Awford says that he will not be adding to his squad before the big kick-off in a few weeks.
It has not been a bad summer has it?
Weather wise it has been - and so far is continuing - awesome on the whole but away from 'weather watch' is has not been a bad summer for Pompey player recruitment wise either has it!
Some decent options, both on permanent deals and on loan, have been secured for the 2014/15 season as we plot an assault on league 2 and look to start our movements back through the leagues again.
Arguably more importantly has been the ability to retain so many key players from last season's end of campaign success, whereas in years gone by we have had little to no option but to release most players or reluctantly accept that they would move on...
Like any manager AA admits that he is 'always looking' and there IS room in the budget for 'one or two more' but these would only be turned to if (god forbid as he told the News) it became apparent we were short, they were too good to refuse or injuries started to bite hard.
Even then 'dossiers on players', as you would expect, are in place with back-up plans on hold but at this stage he has told the News that he is happy with his squad and what we have now is what we will start the season with.
I have said more than once that I am quite happy with the squad we have in place, I think it is a decent one - as good as we have had in quite some time potentially - but I still have slight reservations with our defence perhaps.
Another central defender might not have gone amiss, but having said that we have players that, at a push, can fill in at various areas across the backline really so that should be enough...
What say you the folk of VP, are you content with the squad and think it is now complete?
