Posh tie for Pompey

Posh tie for Pompey

Many would say that the words 'Posh' and 'Pompey' do not really go together but in terms of the league cup next season they do!

That is because Pompey have been drawn to face Peterborough at Fratton.

Following the drawing of the league cup, split into 'northern' and 'southern' divides in the 1st round, we know that we will have home advantage during the first week of the 2014/15 season.

It goes without saying that the championship side will be 'favourites' to win on the night but under the lights at Fratton, early in the season, anything is possible and this is NOT a game that should be written off by any means.

What also is certain is the league cup is not the 'priority' for us next season, but a nice little cup run would not go a miss.

Duo sign professional Pompey deals

Will Jez Bedford and Theo Widdrington be the future Pompey midfield? We'll certainly hope so, clearly the Blues do too or they wouldn't have signed professional deals at Fratton Park.

Nathan Thompson - A Swindon perspective

Prior to his departure for Wigan, Paul Cook wanted Nathan Thompson at Pompey. Interest was retained by Kenny Jackett, who completed his free transfer signing from Swindon last week.

Main man for Pompey? I wouldn't think so

Harsh? Maybe, but do I really feel ex-Middlesbrough, Doncaster and Oldham forward Main will be in Pompey's 1st team, becoming a key member of Jackett's starting XI? Well, no.
