Pompey lead Westcarr chase?

Pompey lead Westcarr chase?

One of the areas we still need something in is attack, with at least one striker needed by Andy Awford this summer.

Yep, we have options but a 'genuine goalscorer' is something that we have lacked but would make a massive difference next season.

Our squad is taking shape, it looked good from what was basically left over anyway but as I have pointed out previously, if you have a striker that can score that can be the difference between being at the top or bottom.

I think it was 2 of the 3 sides that went up automatically from league two last season had a 15-goal or more goalscoring striker - we have goals through our side, if we could add a 15-20-goals striker we could be play-off contenders, at least, I reckon...

Well, if 'reports' starting to surface are correct Craig Westcarr could be on his way to Fratton?

The former Walsall striker, scorer of 17-goals in league one last season, has moved on at the end of his contract. Despite league one, and perhaps even some championship interest, the News says that we have 'stolen a march' on the likes of Port Vale to sign the 29-year-old.

Westcarr can play alongside someone else, behind another striker or in a lone role so he ticks plenty of boxes so maybe he is the answer to our problems?

I am surprised that Matt Tubbs is not someone that we have 'enquired' about - talk about proven goalscorers, he is certainly one of them!

He is meant to/is going to join Wimbledon on loan from Bournemouth.

Like I say I am surprised that, with him available on a season-long loan to end his contract, he is not one to have been looked at?

If we can bring in Westcarr though that would be a good signing for me.

Thoughts?

Pompey win and lose collectively

As such Cook doesn't want the fans to start turning on individual players, which has been the case with Bennett with Smith not exactly viewed as a 'fans' favourite' either.

Away day Blues

We can be brilliant one game and then woeful the next...usually after we've won (usually pretty well) at home but then we lose away, as we did at Blackpool.
