Pompey face tough cup-tie

Pompey face tough cup-tie

That statement, the title saying 'Pompey face tough cup-tie', should be the case anyway as but its very nature ANY cup-tie 'should' be a tough one.

Although with Pompey, unsurprisingly, not seeded for the league cup 1st round draw it becomes even tougher...

18-sides were seeded in the southern section of the league cup, announced today, but we are not one of them and as a result we will face once of the following side.

Bournemouth
Birmingham
Brentford
Brighton
Bristol City
Cardiff
Charlton
Ipswich
Leyton Orient
Millwall
MK Dons
Peterborough
Reading
Swindon
Walsall
Watford
Wolves
Yeovil

This draw will take place a week today, so be this time next week we will know who we face as the draw is made at 10am.

In 'other news' today the News is saying that we are 'in talks over a move for the Hawks' Nigel Atangana.'

Nigel Atangana is a 24-year-old midfielder that plays for Havant, who by all accounts is a pretty tasty footballer - the problem is he IS under contract with our non-league rivals and they are unlikely to 'give him away'...

Perhaps some sort of 'swap-deal' can be arranged with a fringe player given in exchange and perhaps the promise of more loans next season?

A 'reported' £150,000 fee will not be paid, that much we can categorically say for sure!

So, going back to the league cup draw, is there anyone in particular that you would like us to face/avoid?

All look tough opponents, and ones to avoid, but at the same time they will not fancy facing us either - a reunion with Steve Cotterill at Bristol City perhaps...

If we drew Charlton I would imagine that the arranged pre-season friendly would be in doubt.

Thought?

The League was never a priority even when we had good teams. I would think as always they are a distraction from the league.

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
