2013/14 worst manager...

2013/14 worst manager...

It is the time of year where you look back on the good and 'not so good' of the season that was...

Not everything 'is good' and something that was not, for large periods, was the manager is place at Fratton - but the question was who was the 'worst manager' that took residence in the managers chair at Pompey?

The votes had been cast; these numbers toted up with it decided among the Vital Pompey fraternity that Richie Barker, unsurprisingly, was the unanimous winner.

Not a win he would have wanted!

I cannot speak for the general public but my way of thinking would be that this is a decision that is 'spot on' as not only was Barker a poor manager he was a poor man-manager and seemed to alienate virtually all at the club.

Perhaps Guy Whittingham was not 'successful', as we all hoped he would be, but he at least offered a brand of football that mirrored what football should be about - entertainment.

Watching paint dry was more interesting than watching Barker's side...

What the poll asked - 2013/14 VP Awards - Worst Manager

How you voted - Richie Barker - 100%
Guy Whittingham - 0%
Andy Awford - 0%

Ok guys not at all a 'shock horror' result was it but nevertheless thoughts?

No surprises eh! Came in thinking he was 'all that' when he was not. Looks a decent coach but not cut out to be a manager is he...

To be honest I was quie happy when Barker arrived he had a good background and Steve Coppell cam along as part of teh package, unfortunately his record at Pompey Speaks loud and clear not good enough, his style of football was not suited to the way we as fans like to see it played and in my opinion his biggest error of judgment was to say in public what shuld have stayed in the dressing room. He kept saying the player were not good enough and after a while I feel the started to believe it. hence poor performances even from the better players. Quite obviously they were good enough as Awfs proved.

The worst football I have ever seen in nearly forty years under his management & thank the lord he went when he did.

Almost there...stay on target

The win over Newport saw Pompey react well to the defeat to Stevenage with most results going in the Blues' favour too, meaning we've effectively got a seven point buffer on Boro.

With Doncaster and Plymouth yet to play Portsmouth took advantage to close the gap and extend it on the chasing pack. Newport & Leyton Orient look likely to be relegated.
