Hollands signs up!

Hollands signs up!

Pompey have confirmed our first summer signing with Danny Hollands turning his loan into a permanent stay at Fratton.

Hollands has signed a 2-year contract with the option, which is a 'mutual option', of another.

This is awesome news!

His signing is something that I dare say I would not be alone in thinking would have been a signing that most of us would have ranked among the most important things for Andy Awford to have secured this summer.

I am certain other clubs must have been interested in the midfielder after he left Charlton but it speaks volumes that he has decided that he sees his future being best served with Portsmouth Football Club.

Of course his previous on the south coast would have worked in our favour.

I would not have thought that many that would have shown an interest, from championship to league two level, could have offered football in front of such a crowd that we can offer even if they could have offered more financially.

Welcome aboard Danny, without getting too carried away next season will be a good one methinks...

That is a good shout wiggy - will be a definite starter week-in-week-out so why not captain too?

Excellent news, let the rebuilding begin. Here's hoping he is the first of many decent signings.

Amazing Signing! I highly doubt he's gonna be scoring hat tricks for us any time soon again. Don't really see him as a consistent goal scorer so it doesn't totally solve our attack issues. But this is just what we needed from the midfield. What now we need to add is a prolific striker. Hoping Reid would consider coming over. It'd be great if Swift somehow convinced Chelsea but I highly doubt that. But this is the right way to go Awford! PUP! :D

Every season has its highs and lows. The draw at home to Morecambe was a body blow for Pompey, but little did we know that the next home game against Crewe was to be our turning point.

Academy graduate O'Brien, who went on to play for Barnet, Brentford and Dagenham following his release by Pompey, will leave Fratton Park again - he'll link up with Doyle at Coventry.
