Defensive links too

Defensive links too

Pompey are not being 'linked' with too many players, just yet, this summer but those that we are have been offensive players in the main.

Just yesterday a 'goalscoring striker' was confirmed as someone that Andy Awford was keen on signing - later that day 'rumours' on sky sports had them 'understanding' that a defender was being 'lined up' too.

Mickey Demetriou has impressed in non-league with Kidderminster but with his contract expiring this summer he is set to move on with interest from football league clubs, including Pompey, apparently...

Rotherham, challenging to be in the championship, Peterborough and Leyton Orient in league one - Orient are in the league one play-off final - and Chesterfield, who will play in league one next season, are higher league teams being 'linked' but the 'understanding' is that we also want the will be free agent?

He plays at either left back or central defence.

This leaves me thinking with Nicky Shorey, all being well, staying and Dan Butler our left backs, with us also well stocked for central defenders do we need him?

I have not seen the guy play, I cannot say that I have heard of him either, but if Awford is interested he will know best.

What do we think on this one?
