Wallace hope?

Wallace hope?

This time last year I was left with little, to no, hope that Jed Wallace would have stayed at Fratton.

Although he did, seeing out the whole season despite all the 'speculation'.

Now that he becomes an official 'free agent' this summer you cannot help but feel that his future lies away from Fratton for sure with someone likely to snap him up and pay the compensation fee we would be entitled to.

Perhaps not?

Due to him having such a good relationship with Andy Awford, and the suggestion from an article in the News this week, is that he is still tempted to stay at Fratton.

To be honest, I can see why he might be and retain my thoughts that he is probably 'torn' as to what to do.

We know, following the list of players retained and released that 'talks are ongoing' with him, and others.

All being well we can keep Wallace.

Granted he did not have his best season but still has that incredible ability about him that could make him a key player for us next season - yep, he can be frustrating at times but I usually felt last season that a threat, especially down the right, was lesser when he was not on the pitch.

Much would depend on an agreement to 'let him leave' should x-amount come in, which would suit me to be honest as it becomes a win-win.

Who thinks Wallace will stay then?

Probably not, but certainly he must be thinking it may be worth 6 months to see how we start? Would Awford take him on a short rolling contract? Treat him as a loan player and get the benefit whilst we can...
