!987, a mass of Pompey descended on Selhurst Park & a positive result would have given automatic promotion to the top flight after 2 heartbreak season of finishing 4th. No play offs then. This season, ply offs are brought in & we are battling Oldham for 2nd place. Vince Hilare gets sent off & a very late goal by a young John Salako breaks or hearts. Thankfully Oldham lost the next night & we were promoted. Also there for the games in 1991 & at Bradford in 2003 as we celebrated again promotion to the now premier league as Champions & beat Bradford 5-0. And 10 years ago, holding Arsenal during their unbeaten campaign.

Nice steady opening against average enough teams

The words of PompeyFrippy, not mine. But all things considered I think he's right when you look at the opening games of Pompey's 2017-18 season.
