'If It's Football, It's Vital'

New boy keen to get involved

Having got his first training session out of the way with his teammates new Pompey loan signing Mani is keen to get that blue shirt pulled on and show us what he can do.

Not that he needs telling what the Fratton atmosphere is like as he has played against us, both home and away, previously.

This needed no selling to him, nor did moving to Pompey on loan from Brentford.

Mani told The Pompey Site today that he had other offers but Pompey was the one he wanted and has offered up an insight into what we can expect from him: 'I spoke with the manager there last week and, after looking at a couple of offers, decided to come to Fratton Park.

'The chance to come here means a lot and I would like to thank both sets of fans for their kind comments and messages they have given me.

'What I can offer Pompey as a player is someone who is confident on the ball with the ability to play from box to box.

'I can also promise the supporters that I will always give 100 per cent for whatever side I am playing for.'

As you would expect Mani is saying all the right things, all being well he can follow up these words with actions.

I like the sound of what he can offer us, 'confident on the ball' and a 'box to box' player.

I have nightmares about 'box to box' players. Every Pompey manager has tried to sell us 'THE NEW BOX TO BOX MIDFIELDER' over the last 5 years ~ do I have to name them? The only one who comes close is Bryan Ferry and he rarely gets close to the opposition's penalty area. Especially from the treatment table.
