Williams appointment confirmed

Hardly a surprise is it?

We knew that Anthony Williams was coming in as Richie Barker's assistant manager, and also the goalkeeping coach, but it was not official.

Not until today anyway...

His appointment, and the departures of Steve Allen and David Coles were confirmed on The Pompey Site.

Like I said on Tuesday, when it filtered through onto the News that Williams was coming it, it is a shame that we have lost Coles as he is an exceptional goalkeeping coach but I guess the reality is we could not have afford him in the long-term, could we?

That, and the fact that Barker has the right to work with the team he seems fit has to be respected - and, to be fair, Barker clearly has a lot of respect for and faith in Williams due to their previous working relationship so you have to trust in his judgment.

Allen moving on as well means that Williams will fill the roles of him and Coles and with us just paying out one wage for the privilege of the dual roles!

I know literally nothing about Williams but like I said above I will trust in Barker's judgement, and respect his decision making so lets welcome Anthony to Fratton...
