'If It's Football, It's Vital'

When Saturday comes... Bring it on!

You may, or may not, have noticed that I have been pretty quiet the past week or so?

Ok, perhaps we had a little manager rumour last week but the smart money was always on Richie Barker being appointed. When he was he gave his press conference etc.

These areas were covered, but you do not want to keep covering the same ground so you leave it at that and move on.

Aside from that, in reality, not much has happened has it since the Wycombe game...

It is also that time of year where there is plenty that needs doing, sorting out and organising and despite the fact that there are often not enough hours in the day anyway there seems to be even less at this time.

Then there is the fact that sometimes you just do not really have anything to say!

With that in mind it becomes pointless then attempting to say something, seemingly for the sake of saying it...

Alas I know that last weekend I was a bit like a bear with a sore head, and that was in some part because I think I was getting withdrawal symptoms!

I was not able to make the two midweek games we had seen at Fratton, and as I no longer travel to away games it was quite a gap without a game and I knew due to our FA cup exit I had another week to wait until our next Fratton outing.

This game on Saturday, of course Barker's first in charge, is one that I am really looking forward to - that much I do know without a shadow of a doubt.

We need to focus on the future now and not the past, but I reckon that the vast majority of us knew in our heart of hearts we needed a change of management.

In all honesty, whilst I think it would be foolish to expect Barker to come in and rip up massive trees and turn us into world-beaters from the off (perhaps, and even hopefully, he can mind!) I think that some fresh impetus and ideas will benefit Portsmouth Football Club quite.

The mojo that some of us might have seen coming back was starting to be lost again. This, all being well, will start to return again as well.

Like I said earlier in the week I have been pretty impressed with the first impressions of the Barker and look forward to seeing some signs of improvement - you would expect us to give a very good account of ourselves for the new managers first game in charge eh!

I reckon it will be a really good occasion, a good atmosphere and we will see a positive game and all being well a Pompey win - I at least hope this to be the case on all these fronts.

Wishing the hours away is the last thing I want to do, but I really cannot wait until Saturday!

I do hope that Santa can bring me a bloody teleporter for Christmas though as these train journeys back and forth from Devon are getting more and more tedious these days, so I sure as hell know that I will not be looking forward to that part of the weekend, which begins on Friday afternoon...
