'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Edinburgh approach rejected

It was already said by Justin Edinburgh last week that he was not interested in taking over at Pompey.

In fact he was of the opinion that 'the grass isn't greener on the other side' and was therefore more than happy to stay with Newport.

This did not stop the Pompey board from making an approach for him today though!

Newport have rebuffed this, issuing this statement: 'Tim Harris, director of football, this morning received a phone call from a representative of Portsmouth FC seeking permission to speak to Justin Edinburgh about their vacant Managerial post.

'After discussion with Justin, the Board of Directors have informed Portsmouth they will not give permission to discuss their vacant Managerial position.
'

Having just signed a new 2--year contract back in October the compensation to release him from his contract would have been pretty high I reckon, but clearly that did not put us off...

As the closing date for applications approaches we now know for sure that Edinburgh is not going to be one of those in contention to takeover as our new manager by the time we next play (after Wednesday), which will be funnily enough against Newport!

Why not uinsettle every club we are about to play and try & poach there manager. I just think we are making too many waves & we should be doing our business behind closed doors.

It is Matt .. but you can't stop Newport leaking the information .. apparently Catlin is being transparent and following the correct process - I would have thought Newport leaked it to put their own fans minds at rest .. no harm in that is there ?
