'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Comings and goings

Well, more a case of possible 'comings', 'stayings' and 'returnings' with Pompey...

Today we have had some updates on a few situations involving players that could come to Fratton, extend their stays or return from loan spells.

Last week, out of the blue, Jake Jervis was linked with a return to Pompey. His return did not come in time for him to feature in the weekend win over Exeter but it should not have been long in coming this week though.

A 'technical hitch' is holding things up though...

The exit from his Turkish club needs to be fully examined, as there are a few doubts remaining that compensation to them could be needed, so rightly no stone is being left unturned to ensure that we do not end up having to pay a compensation fee.

Yet another sign that things are being properly done these days, previously I am sure we would have dived into this without any thought given to the consequences, no doubt being left with a bill to foot that we might not have needed to!

So, we wait confirmation on his arrival but he is continuing to train with us as will be two of our own players after their loan spells were cut short.

Nick Awford and Ashley Harris went out on loan to Chelmsford less than a week ago but following Dean Holdsworth parting company with the club it has been decided to look at those contracted to the club under caretaker stewardship and they are back at Fratton.

Its another blow for Harris in a season that has been a major disappointment for him when it was one that was vitally important to him with his footballing career looking to be at a crossroads...

A contract extension has been agreed with Therry Racon though, as I would guess most of us thought it would.

He will stay with us until January, when this arrives a decision will be made on an extension until the end of the season or not.

Good news re Racon... A sensible delay in Jervis... Sad for Nick Awford ... and poor old Ashley .. What has the guy got to do to get some football .. maybe the Thatched House Reserves have a game on Sunday .. he might get on their bench
