Rooney another possibility for Pompey

For the foreseeable future, and rightly so, any player contracted to another club will not be coming to Fratton Park - unless a free transfer is granted or the player comes in on loan.

One such player that fits into the contracted bracket is Luke Rooney.

The Swindon man - no relation to the petulant, over-rated and overpaid England 'star' Wayne - is very much on the outside looking in at Swindon but he still has a year left on his existing deal, not that he is expected to feature next season!

Guy Whittingham has admitted that he is keen on signing the midfielder if he becomes available, although he knows that unless they allow him to leave on loan or mutually agree to terminate his contract there is nothing doing.

In all honesty I do not know too much about the 22-year-old, I do recall him being with Gillingham, and being rated, hence why Swindon snapped him up but things just have not worked for him at the City Ground.

As far as I am concerned it is very much a case of 'in Whittingham I trust', so if it does become possible for us to bring in Rooney then I would be happy to back the managers judgement.
