Scunny winger becomes latest Pompey signing

The latest player to join the Pompey revolution is Andy Barcham.

Guy Whittingham has brought in the winger, who is out of contract with Scunthorpe next month, on a free.

Barcham, who is 26, has been left with little doubt that he has made the right choice in signing for Pompey saying this to The Pompey Site: 'it wasn't really a big decision to make what with the size of the club and stadium and fanbase.

'After standing in the South Stand and gazing down onto the pitch, it looks a wonderful place for a winger to come and play.

'I like to go forward, attack and get at opposition players - this is the perfect place to be able to do that. Given some of the wingers that have been at Pompey in the past, I hope I can do the wide-man status justice.

'When I was here with Scunthorpe last season there was no evidence whatsoever that the club were having any problems.

'The fans still stood up, made a lot of noise and were proud of their team. That's an unbelievable advantage when you're out on the pitch.

'It will be great to play regularly on their side rather than come up against them every now and then.'

Like many of the other players that Whittingham has brought in he has experience of winning promotion, having done so with Gillingham back along and seems useful enough - he is definitely saying the right things that much is for sure!

To be honest I do not know much about the guy but 11 goals in 38 appearances for a side that was also relegated from league one, along with us, last season is pretty impressive in anybodies books so if he can do that for us next season we will not go far wrong.
