End of the line for duo?

End of the line for duo?

One more defender was all that Guy Whittingham has said he wanted to bring in.

This left me thinking that this would mean it would be either Rocha John Rocha or Sam Sodje that would make up the defensive side of things?

As such, these thoughts were thrown out to the Vital Pompey fraternity to vote as to what way you thought that would go, although the thought of another defender coming in was also given...

The votes were cast, and this is how it ended up going.

What the poll asked - 1 from 2 - who would you keep, if either?

How you voted - Rocha John Rocha 72%
Sam Sodje 15%
Get someone else 13%

With the arrival of Joe Devera - who has been spoken about so highly by Whittingham, following his release by Swindon, you would think that is that with both RJR and Sodje now looking for new clubs?

I would put money on Rocha retiring if he doesn't sign for Pompey which would be a real shame.

Bradley & Devera, the latter has played at RB, but surely Yassin is going to be 1st choice. Seems GW rates Webster (though am not sure he's ready), and we let Grant go who could play in the centre as well as LB. Sounds like he means it with 3 CB's, and has East as cover (though think he may turn up in midfield). Would be a surprise if one came back. Thinking may be that Rocha is almost 'too cultured' (and now another year older/slower) for League 2 perhaps, and the youngsters are a better bet than Sodje? Will go with the boss (of course), but would like to see Rocha back, one injury and Webster in, and we look a bit thin.

Duo sign professional Pompey deals

Will Jez Bedford and Theo Widdrington be the future Pompey midfield? We'll certainly hope so, clearly the Blues do too or they wouldn't have signed professional deals at Fratton Park.

Nathan Thompson - A Swindon perspective

Prior to his departure for Wigan, Paul Cook wanted Nathan Thompson at Pompey. Interest was retained by Kenny Jackett, who completed his free transfer signing from Swindon last week.

Main man for Pompey? I wouldn't think so

Harsh? Maybe, but do I really feel ex-Middlesbrough, Doncaster and Oldham forward Main will be in Pompey's 1st team, becoming a key member of Jackett's starting XI? Well, no.
