His future had 'been in the balance' but despite a recent injury Guy Whittingham has confirmed that Shaun Cooper will be staying with Pompey.
Well, for at least another month...
The former Pompey youngster has seen his loan from Stevenage extended for another month so, fitness permitting, will get a few more games under his belt for The Blues again.
I like the guy and am happy enough to see this, and you would have to trust in Whittingham's judgement that the injury really is not that bad.
Speaking of Whittingham and 'judgement', whilst it is hard to knock the guy, I really do think it is time that he stopped chopping and changing - yep I appreciate that with players coming and going so often it can be hard not to but he is not really putting out a settled side, making anywhere between 2 to 5 changes each game!
Whilst it hard to say that Pompey is not broken but there is a saying that 'if it aint broke don't fix it', sometimes it looks like we are starting to be ok but even so changes are made, and sometimes not enforced.
Cooper might be staying but Sam Sodje's future - and he looked like being offered another month - is in doubt following this...
Ok, I am sure that we have all 'seen worse' but to aim a punch in the general nether regions not once but twice is just senseless!
Sodje had started to look a decent enough player but, and we probably would have lost at Oldham anyway, his actions did little to help us get back into that game.
We gave the guy a chance, offered him a contract when no one else had, but I would not blame Whittingham at all if his contract was not renewed and we looked to promote one of those younger players into the squad that he had recently suggested he could do...
