'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Premiership Preview (24-25/02/07)

After a break last weekend Pompey return to action and travel to Blackburn in our latest Barclays Premiership match, what about the others.

Saturday, 24/02/07
Charlton v West Ham, 15:00
Matthew Upson (calf) will have a late fitness test so could partner Calum Davenport with Anton Ferdinand then replacing Jonathan Spector (suspension).

Darren Bent seem set to be thrown into action in this virtual relegation decider with Luke Young also set to return as will along with Talal El Karkouri (suspension). Madjid Bougherra is doubtful however. Andy Reid is still out Jerome Thomas (hamstring) is set to return though.

Fulham v Man Utd, 12:45
Franck Queudrue (bruised ankle) is out so Liam Rosenior will fill in but former Pompey loanee Michael Brown (suspension) is back. Vincenzo Montella (suspension) misses out however.

United major doubts Ryan Giggs (minor knock) and Cristiano Ronaldo (foot) have been given the all clear so should start.

Liverpool v Sheff Utd, 15:00
Mohamed Sissoko (shin) should be fit while Javier Mascherano may start after being given the green light to sign. Peter Crouch, Jermaine Pennant and Sami Hyypia are all pushing for recalls.

Danny Webber (calf), Luton Shelton (groin) and Chris Morgan (calf) are doubtful while Leigh Bromby and Keith Gillespie (both suspension) are out.

Middlesbrough v Reading, 15:00
Lee Dong-Gook might make his Boro debut while Jonathan Woodgate (thigh) and Lee Cattermole (hamstring) have recovered. Fabio Rochemback (shin) is out though.

Andre Bikey (suspension) misses out so Michael Duberry could make his debut unless Sam Sodje gets the nod.

Watford v Everton, 17:15
Ben Foster (dead leg) will almost certainly miss out so Richard Lee will deputise for the England goalkeeper.

Andrew Johnson (knee ligament injury) is struggling and therefore doubtful so will probably join Andy van der Meyde (groin) and Nuno Valente (calf) in missing out. Tim Cahill (suspension) returns though.

Sunday, 25/02/07
Tottenham v Bolton, 15:00
Anthony Gardner (hip) needs a fitness test so Ricardo Rocha stands by. Mido and Tom Huddlestone are doubtful.

Tal Ben Haim and former Pompey midfielder David Thompson (both suspension) are out but Abdoulaye Faye (abscess) should return. Nicky Hunt (ankle) will have a late fitness test.

Wigan v Newcastle, 13:00
Caleb Folan (ankle) should recover. Fitz Hall's red card during midweek is being reviewed so this should make him available.

Scott Parker (hamstring) is back and could be joined by Antoine Sibierski (hamstring). Oguchi Onyewu (ineligible) will return after missing the UEFA Cup tie.

All eyes on Charlton-West Ham. Whatever the score, I expect both 2 go down.

When the 'BOTTOM' sides clash the cupboard could be 'BARE' for one or both. It's about time they both got their 'BACKSIDES' into gear.

Keep up the good work yourselves fellas and keep Sp*rs sitting nicely behind you :)

It's always useful if 'Summer targets' get relegated. Do we want anyone from Charlton or West ham?
Et_tu_Pompeii
I heard we wanted Harewood if the hammers go down, paper talk though, also their was talk of (spelt incorrectly) Benayoun aswell. Cheers iceman. I take it your prob a gunner, Yep I certainly hope we do!

I'd love to keep Spurs behind us, not a big fan of Spurs to be honest mainly because of their fans and their belief that they are something they're not... Harewood isn't really the type of target that would fill you with great optimisum is he but you never know... Yossi (I'll take the easy option and use the first name) is a player I like but you could argue he's one of the "luxury" player so many people don't like...

why don't we put in a bid for carlos tevez. very ugly but a great little player in the same mould as d'alessandro.
