We deserved more

We deserved more

It was a 'new look' Pompey on Saturday afternoon, although the outcome was the same as usual with us slumping to another defeat against bottom of the table (as it stood) Hartlepool...

Although, to be fair, whilst the outcome was the same as usual this was a game that I enjoyed much more than I have for a while - yep, quite clearly the ability is lacking but the application of effort and commitment was not for the most part!

Guy Whittingham felt that our play, and chances we had, meant we deserved more: 'I'd like to look at the shooting stats because I'm sure we had more chances than them, but we didn't put ours away.

'I don't think Simon Eastwood had much to do in the second half apart from pick two balls out of the back of the net.'

All the while we fail to convert our chances we will be punished, as we were.

Again though, to be fair, I am not so sure that it was a case of 'not converting chances' as their keeper did make some fine saves, especially in the 1st half and you just cannot do much about that can you!

Something we MUST change is the defensive errors, we made some terrible ones and they were punished: 'I'm very disappointed with the result. We had enough chances in the game to score and our defending was poor for the first and second goals.

'We were going for it when they scored the third, but the ones before that I wasn't happy with.'

I know I keep banging on about '100% effort, commitment and passion' being what I am looking for - that is a key ingredient for me and will retain my interest, but some wins would be nice at some point too, losing to a side that most would have pined hopes on beating is a disappointment and cannot hidden.

If the showing we saw was an indication of what is to come for the rest of the season, perhaps we will continue to lose more than we win but it will leave me somewhat satisfied as I will feel I am getting something back from the games, seeing the boys give it their all (even if that is not good enough to get results) and at least see us go down fighting...

The fact that Jed Wallace finished with cramp showed the effort he put in. Stop the mistakes and take your chances - simple!! But not that easy.

i'm sorry to say it' and as much as I respect guy for his effort, he's not a manager, 15 games with out a win is awful! every week our defence make's mistake after mistake, some serious work is required, surely they work on it in training, cant believe how bad we are I suggest Andy Awford spend's a solid week with them geting them organised for a start, Rocha not made any difference at all since he's come back! something has got to change! you cant keep blaming the situation we are in. if we are to be relegated so be it. we have been there before! but at least let it be the 10 points that get us relegated not just go down blaming bad luck for the position we are in. like myself I sensed a lot of fans have had enough of this administration draging on and on and on! have a feeling its still going to drag on after thursday, will there ever be an end.

Flew up to toon which is not as close as I thought to the monkey hangers - er hangout - last time I flew into Boro "international" - there is a great cafe near the ground where you can get real proper black pudding and local sausages - flight back to London even left on time and the pretend sarnie was even palatable; didn't even have a hangover after a cracking night out in the big market. Much sympathy for Pompeys plight in the pubs and club down by the river. I can tell you the Embraer jet is a superb airplane - dead quiet as well ! Etc etc etc

Liverpool goalie keen on Pompey return

Will he get this chance though? I think we could quite safely say he'll not be in the Liverpool 1st team next season and Pompey want a goalie so could this be Ryan Fulton...

Please be Real Madrid...please be Real Madrid!

Ok, despite the fact Real Madrid must 'owe us one' for Diarra, I'm a realist with who Pompey will face...I'll settle for a pre-season friendly at Fratton being against Barcelona!
