Four arrive at Fratton

On Thursday, as you will almost certainly know by now, not 1, not just 2 or even 3 but 4 players arrived at Fratton on month-long deals!

Former Charlton players - well among their previous clubs where they were teammates - Yassin Moutaouakil and Sam Sodje have signed on for a month.

Whereas Adam Reed and Shaun Cooper have arrived on 1-month loan deals from Sunderland and Crawley respectively.

All were 'expected' to arrive, so are not a surprise at all - well maybe Moutaouakil, who came out of left field somewhat...

Guy Whittingham had the following about them to say on The Pompey Site: 'Sam is someone with plenty of experience and he can pass that on to the younger players in the side.

'Adam comes highly recommended by Kevin Ball, has played at this level before and will bring us plenty of energy.

'Our physio Steve Allen knew Yassin when he was at Charlton and so was aware what a good player he is. We invited him down so we could have a look and were delighted with what we saw.

'And it's also nice to see Shaun back at Pompey - he'll know exactly what's required here.'

Like I keep saying I am keen for us to continue looking to bring through our own players, although I appreciate that you need some experience around them.

So, with that said, I do like what seems to be happening now.

A decent balance of youth an experience is being brought in, most are known to the coaching staff involved at the club, and these are sometimes players that have a previous with us and are being turned to as such or they are players looking to 'have a point to prove', so are given that chance to do this.

Hopefully, once and for all, the overpaid yet massively under performing 'stars' we were looking at are a thing of the past...
