Cooper back with Pompey

Cooper back with Pompey

After many a year away from Pompey, but remaining on the south coast with Bournemouth for much of the past decade, Shaun Cooper is returning to Pompey.

Having started his career with the club he has gone full circle, and will be with us on a 'month-to-month' loan basis from Crawley. Cooper's time with Bournemouth ended last summer when he signed for Crawley but injury has restricted his appearances but all being well this can be to our benefit!

Welcome home Shaun.

Going outwards though is Alex Grant...

The 17-year-old defender has been loaned to Havant for a month so he can get some 1st team football under his belt after injury.

Other news today has seen Phil Smith 'throw his hat into the ring' to become our next goalkeeping coach. This could work, doubling up as a player and coach, means one wage for a couple of jobs!

If it is believed that his quality, he certainly has the experience, is the right level we want to be passing onto others then it could be a win-win situation perhaps?

New month-long contracts, with Smith also signing (or going to sign one) I think, have been offered to Darel Russell and Johnny Ertl.

I am happy to see both offered new deals as I think both offer us something so are worth, on the right money, having around.
