'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Court date fixed for 31 January

In a statement just issued on the club`s official site Trevor Birch, PKF partner and joint administrator of Portsmouth Football Club, said

"Following discussions last week, all parties agreed to ask the Court for an adjournment until January 31. We have been informed this afternoon that the judge has granted this request."

Pompey Supporter`s Trust chairman Ashley Brown told the News: 'Our original wish was to buy Fratton Park ourselves and we are optimistic that we will be able to achieve this, which of course is what the fans want.

'However, the single most important thing our supporters can do to help achieve this objective is to convert their pledges or buy a share if they have not yet done so, either as individuals or in syndicates.

'All money is held in an escrow account and will only be used should the bid proceed, as we all hope it will. The more cash we can raise before the final court hearing, the better our chances of success. It is as simple as that.`

The key phrase in Ashley`s statement in 'final court hearing`. Obviously with the confidentiality surrounding the court proceedings I cannot say for certain that all will be decided on 31 January but I know all Pompey fans will hope that it is. The problem of course is this date means that club cannot come out of Administration before the transfer window shuts so the squad will only be enhanced with free agents and loans up to a maximum of five.

The judge has allowed an extension- the only reason I can imagine is because he thinks an amicable deal is in the offing. This can only be positive for the future of the club. Perhaps a there is a sale/ leadback or loan with rate of return arrangement being considered ( all quite usual when an agreement is not acheived re an asset valuation - you find an amicable way of closing the gap. Who knows but the judge has not forced an issue so I think it is positive. What we need is an indiscreet new arrival to twit or tweet something.
