'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McLeod departs - Connolly arrives

The expectancy was that Izale McLeod was going to be one of those leaving Pompey in January, although this has come a little earlier.

It has been officially confirmed on The Pompey Site that he has left the club by 'mutual consent'...

Yep, he has bagged us 11-goals this season but his work ethic, or lack of it, was poor and his attitude has basically stunk, especially in recent weeks.

No doubt he will find himself another club, and soon enough, but I cannot see that it will be Swindon as he would not last 5-minutes under their fiery Italian manager! A return to MK Dons is most likely.

So long as football league approval is given veteran striker David Connolly has been signed to replace him.

The well-travelled, former Irish international, has been a free agent since leaving Scum in May. Obviously that will be held against him by some but for me so long as he 'puts in a shift' and plays like he wants to be here that will do me.

Connolly been a decent striker over the years, well in veteran stage now, but like rug, if he puts in a shift I couldn't give a rats cock who he came from!

I said on Saturday Evening that McLeod should be shown the door first thing Monday morning .. and hey presto ... Wasn't in the know but seemed the sensible thing to do for a player who obviously couldn't give a toss and thought he was better than he actually was.... I hope nobody comes in for him (but doubt that'll happen) Next up Brian Howard please !!! .. As for Connolly well the jury is out on that one but I reckon with him up front with Benson their speed should shake fear into the League One defences .. Neither are as old as Kanu... but give them a year or too .. As for being a scummer .. Well if he scores 30+ before the season is out I'll forgive him ..

i remember DC at wimbledon when we went up-prolific..harry was interested too...Toilet paper, well good riddece to him, he was only good when Wes was up front with him.

I ught he was harshly treated t start with as pople ere expecting way too much but nobothered he hsgone now. Connelly has sme talent that exeeds this league so even as an old(er) player I sure he can add something. Totally agree ith chix - howard next please!!
