Lets Make The Dream Happen

At the start of the season midtable bordering on the top ten was the aim for many Pompey fans, those of you that have followed this site since the summer at least will know I often harboured outside hopes of a finish high enough to gain entry into Europe next season so with us now approaching the final furlong our fate is in our own hands…

I would have loved to have won the cup this season but United put paid to that dream for this season on Saturday evening so that is one cup final we can't look forward to but we still have fourteen of them between now and the last and possibly even decisive on the 13th May against Arsenal.

The league table doesn't often lie does it so we are in the top six at present on merit, lets keep it that way! No club has a divine right to anything but after all we've been through over the years and the dramatic turnabout in fortunes without spending millions to achieve this we deserve our chance at a trip to the arse end of Latvia, or the darkest reaches of Bulgaria at the least!

It is now down to the players, with hopefully a little luck along the way to make the dream a reality and put in fourteen performances as if each and everyone were cup finals. We'll do our part backing them all the way getting behind them as we always do when they take to the field so let's begin this with our first cup final with Middlesbrough tonight, our destiny awaits...

Lets also hope Arse kick Bolton out of the cup too. after all, last thing we need is some Jack the Lad team making the final i.e Bolton or Spurs, and as a result them nicking a place in Europe reducing the 6 spots in the League to 5 spots, and then us finishing 6th behind some one else like Everton :-( If we can get 5th all well and good, but Bolton are sure to slip away in a minute as usual, and if they finsh 10th but are in the FA Cup final, they'll still dump on us.

It's ours for the taking, unbeaten at home for the rest of the season is a must, winning most essential and we'll be right up their surely... We can do Chelsea, United and Arsenal at Fratton if we believe it, I'd take a point against each but can't see why we shouldn't believe we can beat them... Bolton won't win the FA Cup, will most likely be Arsenal, Chelsea or United with two of these contesting the final...

We'll probably never have a better chance but still think that the club needs to try and bring in a couple more players before the window shuts. Another forward is a must and I'd like to see another centre back. Investment now could reap rewards for the long term and we should be staring forward not looking back.

Ah Pompeyrug, I'd love to be able to have the luxury of believing we can go the rest of the season unbeaten at home. I do however feel we cannot achieve this when we have the likes of Chelsea and Manure to visit us. Let's be honest, Manure were not at full strength last weekend and Chelski will always be tough to stop. Before we played Charlton, I felt we could go through the remaining home matches losing only to Chelski. But since that awful performance, I feel we will drop at least ten points before the end due to defeats by Manure and Chelski and draws against the Gooners and Liverpool. I'd so love to be wrong though and turn them all over!

ruggers is that the sound of a cuckoo? nope ! i agree with TBP and secondly with our abismal away record we need to WIN every game at home. LoL but anyway a very rousing dare i say it, churchillian, article ,bravo

actually though our destiny has not been in our hands since we stopped winning, we have been quite dependant upon other results going our way.
