Harry's Cunning Ronaldo Plan

Harry's Cunning Ronaldo Plan

Harry Redknapp has told the local paper The News, his master plan to stop Manchester United`s Cristiano Ronaldo. No it`s not to take him out in the first minuteā€¦ Pompey will double up preventing Ronaldo from being one on one.

Harry said;

'If you left Ronaldo one-on-one with the best right-back in the world, he would beat him. I don't care who it is. He was walking past Emmanuel Eboue against Arsenal. I've never seen anyone do that to Eboue before.

'It's very difficult to stop him. You've got to get tight with him and stop him getting the ball, really, which is not easy. Our full-backs will need all the help they can get. You can't get isolated one-for-one with Ronaldo. You need to shut down the sides.

'I want to fill up both sides of the pitch. Lauren has got an engine and knows how to defend, so he can help double up with Glen Johnson on the right. The left side is a problem, with Djimi Traore cup-tied. It's a difficult one. You need someone in front of the left-back to help out.

'We've got a few options - David Thompson could come in. But we'll have a look at it. Hopefully, Noe Pamarot will be fit.'

Harry Redknapp rates Ronaldo as one of if not the best in player in the Premiership.

'If I were putting together a list of the best players in the Premiership, Ronaldo would be in the top five, for sure. He's an amazing player who's got everything. He's 6ft 1in and great in the air.

'He's got terrific power with his shot. He's got unbelievably quick feet and the ability to beat people. He's got pace. He's a top player. I used to keep hearing idiots calling him a show pony. What absolute nonsense. I just looked at him and thought what a talent this kid was.

'When he first came to England people seemed to want to dig him out because he's got ability and can do special things. I don't know why. He's done well against us the past couple of times, to be fair. He gave us big problems when they beat us 3-1 at Fratton Park last season.

"I played Matty Taylor left-back with Andres D'Alessandro in front of him, but we got badly overun. So I brought Andy Griffin on at half-time to play at left-back and moved Matt Taylor in front of him - and we did much better. We looked more solid.'

So now we`ve stopped Ronaldo what we going to do with Wayne Rooney?!? On the right is a poll regarding the score line Saturday, vote and have your say bellow.

Get Richard Hughes on in the middle and kick the Portugese Winker in the first 2 minutes, he may get a booking but at least we'll play 88 minutes withour Ronny!

'Winker' doesn't even remotely sound like '*****er'. 'Wenker' does though. Good god, what am I doing, talking about masturbation on a football site.

We might more than a cunning plan. Not very cunning if everybody knows about. Have we got Baldrick marking him?

Personally I can see no reason at all why we cannot force a draw up there. We will have had a huge wake up call after last week's dreadful performance at home to Charlton and United will have had their confidence dented a little with their recent couple of matches. I partly feel that last week was a bit of a come down for the players; they knew what match was coming this week and may well have eased off against the Addicks. It still does not excuse such a poor performance, so I feel they will be making up for it on Saturday. If we can stop them scoring early and hold them until at least an hour has passed, then I think we may have a very good chance of being in the fifth round draw.

i realise i may be in the minority but why is it when we play manchester United, Redknapp goes into loser mode? It's always the same, quotes in the press laughing at his own teams chances, the strength of man U's squad against Pompey's, or that his team don't travel. Pompey's record at Old Trafford under redknapp is poor, three losses all by a three goal margin. Joe Jordan lost 3-0 in one game in charge while Velimir Zajec managed the best of all losing only 2-1 and even managing to equalise! have some belief Harry, we're not a Championship side any more. Instead of complimenting them all the time, lets give them a game.

Twaat him early doors and he may tend to drift out of the game, show him respect and he get better and better as his arrogance grows.

We can't compete with them (United) so let's really serve it up again to that Middlesbrough side on Tuesday. The FA Cup for us is only going to detract from Europe. If we had have drawn weaker sides fair enough but United always give us a football lesson up there. We are not good enough to push them all the way.

You seem to be missing the point pompeygray the FA Cup gets you into Europe! How can this detract from this? It will be easier to play what 4 or 5 cup finals (games to win the cup or finish runner up at worst to a team probably already qualified for Europe?) than it will 14 cup finals (league games left to play). All we need is a few great performances and we'll be there, a few more poor performances in the league and we're screwed...
