Diawara Could Still Join

Charlton defender Souleymane Diawara could still be joining Portsmouth in the summer. His agent claims that a deal would only be possible in January with special permission from FIFA.

'The problem is that he has already been transferred this year so he is not allowed to leave during the January transfer window unless FIFA give special dispensation,'

'But Souleymane may move to Portsmouth next summer, it will be very easy for him to be transferred in July.'

Maybe this was whom Peter Storrie was referring to in the programme notes before the Charlton match. It may also explain why Diawara was left on the bench.

No doubt come the summer we will be linked with a few dozen other players, again.

we lost out in a bidding war with charlton at the beggining of the season our offer of 50p and some of arry's jokes was amazingly trounced by Dowies offer of millions, cant understand it myself. He seemed quite good for them recently and Pardew has said on sky he thought he was the only one worth a contract renewal before the end of the season. Problem is we need someone now not at the end of the season.

as for summer linkage storagematt we are apparently short on monies and currently famous for not living up to our verbal commitments regards players..... SHOCK HORROR !! joking apart it would be nice to be regarded as a proffesional outfit off the field as well as on it ( although not much demonstration on the field against charlton).

i might also hazard that a goal scoring striker who is not unsettled, wants to go to Holland or in a police station might be fairly high on the priority list just now.

well admin, 3 pointsfrom 12 is it now? We are not able to keep a clean sheet, strikers are unsettled/off the boil/ cant hit a barn door/ spending odd nights recovering from thigh injury's at her majesty's expense, It seems to me something needs freshening up. lets also not forget that a 6 weeks ago ( and last year) Harry was saying something along the lines of "this transfer window is where you plan your end game, arrange your cover and inject a bit of something to your team". do you not think things have gone a little stale recently. i have ot on good authority that we are looking but only for loan deals.

thats a fair point Admin and i do not advocate mass changes, but the central defensive pair look tired. We have all called for a striker in and Harry has openly admitted his desire to get in a top rated midfielder. Injuries will/are taking their toll and it is a squad game now. I have said before and i still maintain ( perhapse wrongly) we have a quality 1st team but a mediocre squad and there are better teams than ours suffering for the same at the moment.

If you ask me I would say if it's not broken don't fix it. Why spend more millions just to 'attempt' to shore up 6th spot when we 'might', I stress might, do it anyway. You can understand struggling sides forking out the money to survive (as indeed we did this time last year) and maybe the fat cats in an effort to increase their trophy cabinet but methinks that spending more money in the Summer is perhaps a better option. Look we are already assured of Premiership survival, so we can relax, not overspend for the sake of it, and go out there to get as many points as we can. Remember we are in safe hands, they know what they are doing. Who we are to condemn what our club has been doing since April last year W16 D9 L9...I ain't complaining at that are you ?

Well said Pompey Gray. I think we still pinch ourselves every morning to see if we are dreaing. So as you sayW16 D9 L9 since April is more than we hoped for. PUP and if we need players in the Summer, then buy buy buy, but as for now? i'm happy to pick up slightly un heard ofs like Chinedu Ogbuke see this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqYpFtG9njo

The last 4 games have all been against teams that seem to have some kind of hoodoo on us, i don't think we need to read too much into those results other than the fact that we need to play passing football to succeed, all to often when things start to go wrong we forget to pass short and simple and look for the defence splitting ball over the top. not exactly the right service for our strikers who are much better with the ball at their feet.

you know it CharlieC, Stevec i agree with you regards footballing our way out of trouble, but as for hoodoo's that dont wash with me for two reasons. A large chunk of our team a) have not been around hampshire enough or know enough about our hoodoo playing history, b) are from foreign shores so consequently do not care about hoodoo's. in my opinion such as it is we do need to care becuase these are teams who we should be beating, especially if like me you like going to Europe. I also think back to last season and what happens to teams that get momentum (woohoo & wigan)at this time of the season and what happens to those that lose it. As Bobby Robson and old fergie said,"in football if you are happy where you are then you are going backwards" and that is my concern, But i feel H knows there is an issue & two more will come in and we follow your example of footballing our way out of trouble.
