Lauren Signs For Pompey!!

Lauren has completed his move from Arsenal to Portsmouth. He has joined on a two and a half year contract and has signed for an undisclosed fee.

Lauren is a right back; which causes Harry Redknapp somewhat of a dilemma. Glen Johnson, all be it on loan, has been fantastic for Portsmouth this year and could consider himself very unlucky should he be dropped. Lauren can play on the right of midfield but Gary O`Neil currently occupies that position.

He won`t go straight into the Pompey starting eleven after being out for so long with a serious knee ligament injury. No doubt about it though, this is a fantastic signing for Portsmouth Football Club.

An ideal eventual replacement for on-loan Johnson. I'm not at all bothered by the fact that we now have two decent RBs scrapping for the first team place, Lauren would be cleared of injuries by summer and would have a lot more clubs after him by then. The only snag for Lauren is that when Chelsea send a player off on loan they say that the player is good enough to eventually play at Stamford Bridge and expect to see the player on the first team squad, otherwide they won't learn how good the player can be. Still, Lauren is like another Sol Campbell for the back four.

HR says he can play in a number of positions along the back four. Centre half? Left back? That would be useful in case Djimi fails to shine.

i think harry meant right back or right midfield but don't no, ask the arsenal fans

As an Arsenal fan, i'm sorry to see him go......you got a quality player, and he don't dive as much as his replacement

Lauren is an extremely versatile player. He signed for Arsenal as a CM, converted to RM then RB. You lot better look after him!

Now i am always banging on about a solid defence 1st and i agree he will with Lysi he will be good competition for GJ. My concern has to be that he is injury prone and has lost that turn of pace required to turn defence into attack. My frog mates are telling me he thinks as well Sol Campbell and has pressure game experience so do we really care. All in all a positive move for the club, especially with all that extra TV dosh about to appear.

I think Glen Johnson should be the most worried as Lauren could quite easily be at right back this weekend - which is where I think he'll play most of his games.....

well it may be a good signing and I do trust HR..but I would still like to see a quality forward come along and join us..not to mention in our transfer sweep at work ive got griffin going to stoke and Muntari coming to frattton

re tal ben haim i understood he wanted to go to chelsea with his good freind Avrim Grant, it would be great for Muntari to come here, but as he can play thet break up role i feel it would see Hughes on his way. I reckon Glen's position will only be under threat if a) he makes it clear he wants to go back to Chelski or b) Harry stops the attacking back tactic, which he may consider for away games where we cant seem to win..... now if Kanu goes all we need is the Yak back. It will be intresting to see how Cole performs on saturday, i hope we murder them (not in a thatcherite way before Noumea starts again), but i cant stand Thatcher or slimey Pardew. nothing too much just 3 points and 4-0 please. although i guess we will do our usual heavy weather job and scrape it 1-0.

Good luck to Mayer (full name, as you'll on arsenal.con is Laureno Bisan Etame Mayer, I like calling hi Etame Mayer), and seeing as I don't particularly dislike Pompey, hope he does well for you. and yes, it is a class signing. He may be 30, but even if I was the one being asked, I'd have kept him. These top players are like that; whatever they lose to age, they make up for with experince and class, which is why you see man u taking a Barca "reject" on loan.

What a cracking signing. Always been a fan of Lauren's, takes a decent penalty too I believe. Gary O'Neil is suspended isn't he so he may very well make his debut tomorrow. Any lingering hopes we had of signing Glen Johnson in the summer seem to have gone with this though haven't they? Chelsea probably wouldn't have let him go anyway...

I think you are right ruggers, which is why it was my option "a" above, but we dont know who else is on there way out yet. Doula is off, I think Dej has had it now. good Kanu is a bit restless and i would say things dont look to for LuaLua either.
