Pompey Recieve 625k From Luton

Peter Storrie has told the local paper "The News," that Pompey have made £625,000 from Rowan Vines 2.5 million move to Birmingham. Portsmouth agreed with Luton that 25% of the player`s sale would come to Portsmouth.

Portsmouth have also made a similar deal with James Keene who will cash Pompey 20% of the total value on his next move.

Peter Storrie said;

'When Rowan went to Luton we had an agreement that Portsmouth receive 25 per cent of the transfer fee. That's something I always aim to do. You can understand players' frustrations if they want to play, it's only natural.

'When it comes to young players leaving, it's especially important to cover our backs. The younger lads cannot get in your team and want to go elsewhere but you never know how they might develop in the long term.

'They might make it in the next two or three years. That has happened in Rowan's case but we had a sell-on clause to earn some money out of it. I would like to think it's good business.

'People don't always realise but this is something I have always done and often it can turn into good things. When Wigan stayed up we received some money as part of the De Zeeuw transfer.

'When Sheffield United were promoted we received money as part of the Unsworth deal. There is a similar thing inserted in James Keene's Elfsborg contract with a sell-on clause around 20 per cent.

'It all adds up to a fair amount and they make nice little additions for us.'
