Muntari Isn't Fratton Bound

Muntari Isn't Fratton Bound

Harry Redknapp has told the local paper that the highly rated central midfielder Sulley Muntari will not be signing for Pompey.

'I would not have thought Muntari will be coming here. I'd be surprised - what they are asking for is too much.

'We'll move on. If people are more than they're worth, we won't buy them.'

Hi Pompey pessimist, happy new year to you and you have a very valid point. Gents lets stop kidding ourselves , Muntari is better than a lot of what we have, the issue here is more about what we dont have, and that is the money required to properly plug the gaps that stop us having a true quality squad.. We have all read the hurried interviews by Mr Gaydamak and he says he will try dependant upon budget etc. so taking into account the facts that, our income is watched carefully for links to Gaydamak senior, we have a high player wage bill and an average gate of some 19k there is not much income generated to spend. We all are experienced enough to know the signs by now so lets hope what money Sasha can generate is wisely spent.

cringing painfull LoL, my other thought was that frequently we have anounced players are not worth the money being asked and they then go onto play really, really well for some other team (pre crocked Ashton/Oba Martins anybody ) and if we do then try again for one of these players we offer the same money that was rejected the year before. As my mate in media street says, one way clubs keep the heat off is to leak that your after a big name player and then put in an offer that wont be accepted, at the beggining of the season this was apparently a Storrie special. So once say again lets just hope what is available is spent wisely, and that Pompey dont look like an un professional laughing stock again.

"MUNTARI OH OH OH OH"... Another way at looking at things is that Pompey have Premiership Security already, so unless Gaydamak has a definite European agenda then certain objectives may have already been achieved. In that case why splash out irresponsibly to potentially still miss that boat. Perhaps he has a greater vision for the future say 2007/08 where we can really raise the bar, the ante and go for it with successful Summer signings. Whatever happens when January comes and goes we will all know that come August we will be kicking off in the World's best league again. Our expectations have been surpassed so let's relax and enjoy the rest of the season with those who have got us there and dream about what may still lie ahead.
