What's The Deal With Cole?

Harry Redknapp this week said that offers have been made for Andrew Cole including one from Charlton, the player claimed this was news to him.

"Has he? He hasn't told me. But to be fair he has kept away from me for the past few days," said Cole.

"I don't expect to play 38 games, I don't think I could. But I do believe I could play 25 to 30 games."

"I have sat about on the bench for four months. I am not going to lie, I do get frustrated. You won't score too many goals sitting on your a***."

"When I came here in the summer I said I wanted to play football, I hadn't just come here for a little jolly. That's not me, I'd prefer to jack it in rather than do that."

Forgive me if I'm wrong but hasn't Cole been injured for the most part of this season? If so how can he be playing games? He can't expect to walk straight back into the team when recovered can he, unless the injury situation has just been a smokescreen? It is being suggested that a move to Charlton broke down due to Cole's wage demands so was he really as much in the dark as he is making out.

Cole has played the last two matches and scored in both with Redknapp saying he will start against Sheffield United at the weekend and continue to play as long as he's happy, fit and playing well.

I've very much liked what I've seen from Cole since he's been here but maybe the editor of vital City has it right is Cole just a journeyman looking for fat pay days all the time showing no loyalty? If so, and Cole thinks he's got a god given right to start then I don't think he's the type of player I want here. Some people have the right to think this; I don't think Cole is one of them.

Cole has disputed his injury status a couple of times and he is a well renowned moaner, Harry knows this so it is to be expected. No player has the right to be an automatic pick thats for sure but Cole and kanu bring something that we have not had for a while, namely two goal scoring strikers, so to a certain extent you can understand his frustration As for City i visited their site at the time of his transfer and they did not want him to leave. Generally when a club moans about a departed player it is because they are going to miss him, and the table tells us City clearly have.

Interesting topic, one of which might prove true given that Cole would surely like to create history by scoring for SEVEN different Premiership clubs. If that is his desire then SOD him and pass him on. If he is real about is hopes for Pompey then he should stay and see it out. Time will reveal 'will the Real Cole stand up'....

I like Cole, i think he has amazing abilities and to be playing for us makes him awesome. But NO ONE has any right to play in the game, he should not try to have Harry over a barrell to have to play him. I agree with harry, Cole should have spoken to him privately if he had a problem, and if he isnt happy to fight for his place, the same as Kanu, Benjani and Lua Lua, then he isnt a TEAM player and should move on. If you watch our team now before each game, there is a genuine Togetherness with them all and they look happy as a team. We dont need anyone disrupting that. PUP Pompey with or without Cole.

Just heard through reliable sorce that James the Scummer ear cupping... Scummer, is about to join Pompey. Views on this please, should it be true????

Cole was a fantastic addition to the squad, and in my opinion is the best finisher that we currently have. I really hope that he stays and fights for his place at Fratton, even if only til the end of the season.

i agree with you lincspf, and as i have posted Cole has no automatic right but someone show me where he has said he should. As i meant to post its good for us that Cole want's to start every game if we we have a player who is happy on the bench then we dont want him so send him down the road. oh and as as for ear cupping scummers, given James the gob beaten's previous comments about us and his current form what would he bring to us.

I can't see Beatie being popular at Fratton even if he started scoring so it's unlikely to happen - although he is a mate of Matty's . . . .
Et_tu_Pompeii
A lot of agent & media sh1te stiorring it up again.

I want Cole to stay of course as he's been superb whenever I've seen him, you feel he'll score if we turn to him but if he is going to rock the boat I'd rather he went. I'm sure we'll get enough of this when LuaLua is back...
pompeyrug
As far as Beattie goes Everton can keep him. The fact that he's a scummer isn't clouding my judgement, the fact that he's crap is...

If this is true then that completes the theory that all Coles in the Prem are having a hard time. Ashley Cole 'published' an autobiography called 'My Defence' which features a lot more Arse bashing than his own life, the book only made less than 3000 sales. Joe Cole has yet to start this season after being riddled with injury, Carlton Cole... well... y'know... he's at West Ham, self explainitory and of course this little piece of speculation with Andy Cole. The only cure is games, and seeing as Lua Lua is injured, it's an oppurtunity to have him settled at the club rather than hop off to Leeds for his share of £60,000 a week.
Lysimachus
I'm in a bad mood but Lysimachus your commical appraoch to the ASSley Cole theme is highly amusing...

Dear Andrew Thanks for coming to Fratton but why did you sign up for a year if you didn't want to stay that long? Love The Rabbi
The Rabbi
Well atleast Beatie didnt come to us FEW that was close. I didnt mean in my comments above that i Wanted Cole to leave. Dont get me wrong i love the guy, he is amazing. All i meant is i would prefer he left, rather than upset the family of players we have now. We dont want that Happy bond the team has upset by anyone sounding off incorrectly.
Midge
Rabbi he wants to play and lets be honest he looks like he will score when he plays so surely some frustration is right, do you want a player who is happy on the bench?
