Pompey Off To Old Trafford

Pompey Off To Old Trafford

To be the best you have to beat the best don't you so although a tie with Untied is made even harder by being at Old Trafford why shouldn't we be looking to progress? If we do overcome Fergie's men our quest for cup success is made that much easier by eliminating one of the most fancied sides.

This will be a real test and should indicate just how serious Harry Redknapp is about an extended cup run and even potentially winning it. As it isn't a league game the pressure is off, we have little to lose so I just hope that we approach it as such and go after them. I'd rather we gave it a go and got a hammering rather than sit back looking to catch them on the break and still get a hammering! Many a team have come away from Old Trafford with just that so let's have a go. If we don't show United too much respect and get at them why shouldn't we beat them? Failing this we'll take them back to Fratton and finish the job!

Pompey last faced United in the Cup as a Division One side and despite losing comfortably in the end we did have a go at them and should earlier chances been taken, if memory serves me right most notably from Nigel Quashie and maybe Vincent Pericard and should the woodwork not have denied us who knows maybe it would have been a famous victory?

The tie of the round is almost certain to be shown LIVE so it gives every Pompey fan, even those that can't make the trip to Manchester be it through lack of finances or ticket availability the chance to watch the game in all its glory.

I just hope we really do have a go, if we do we can beat United and then we'll win the cup! OK maybe it won't be that easy but if we can beat them be it at Old Trafford or Fratton we'll then have a very good chance at going all the way...

That's the spirit Lysimachus !!! You a scummer by any chance ? ;) Villa fans thought the same, but they were a goalie's clanger away from at least a replay. So let's get behind the boys as usual, and BELIEVE !!

Would playing for a draw & then getting a replay at Fratton park be a bad idea?? Villa almost got a draw on Sunday at old trafford so, their is absolutley no reason that we cant get a result! dont forget, the 3-0 loss earlier in the year did have a dubious penalty, o & we did have O'Brien in defence as well!!!

Villa went for the win, if we do we may get lucky and get that draw, but playing for a draw will surely get us Lysimassacered. one last thing DONT MENTION O'BRIEN,....... i did it once but i think i got away with it.

Villa almost puled off a replay yesterday dispite all the Utd shots on goal, so there is no reason why you shouldn't pull off something.

A bit gutted with draw. 25+ other teams were gagging for a trip to Man U. I wanted an easy Home to Bristol Rovers & into round 5. You can smell Wembley. Of course on our day we can get a result anywhere, but to be honest we have a home game with Boro a few days later. I would want to beat them again & not risk that by going all out at MU. Priority is the league as always, the top half for a change.

Shall we just not bother turning up then... The FA Cup deserves respect and I hope we give it just that! Obviously we want a top 6 finish but the FA Cup offers a trophy at the end of it and a place in Europe anyway. We'll beat Boro at home whatever so why not have a good crack at United first...

Someone's mentioning the Irish one! Speaking of him has anyone seen the bizarre rumour linking us with a move for Traore (£1m) and Diawara of Charlton (loan) with Andy O (loan) going the other way... If there is a god he'll let him go but will prevent us signing either of those clowns, we want to maintain a top 6 place not throw it away...

The League looks to be Pompey's main aim following the inevitable Pompey bad luck draw in Round 4. Other seasons I remember disposing of Nottm Forest only to get Liverpool, of getting Chelsea when we could have been better served, and others that eventually went on to win the cup. So nothing has changed, except that we now have a very competent team who could on their day dispose of anyone - but United at Old Trafford - come on, please don't dream about it because we all know that Rooney, Rinaldo and Co. will deliver. Let's face it Villa came close by inept strikes from the United killers, it won't happen again. Please throw eggs at me should be scrape or 'scramble' a result !!
