Pompey Unbeaten Until March 2007
My target for Pompey in the summer was 40 points or thereabouts by Christmas and we've all but got their. I felt the fixtures on paper were favourable for us to get to this target and so it has pretty much proved despite a hiccup or two along the way.
Now that this first goal is out of the way lets push on now and keep proving people wrong and winning over more people with the players, Harry Redknapp and the club getting all the credit and respect we deserve, which if we are honest I think that we are.
Looking at the fixtures between now and the start of March (at least!) why shouldn't we be looking towards remaining unbeaten over this time? Using my famous "on paper" theory, which has served me well so far this season we will not face a challenge from the "big four" until Chelsea arrive at Fratton Park on Saturday March 3rd, and even then I'd be looking for us to draw at the very least!
Between now and then we face Bolton (a), Spurs (h), Sheff United (a), Charlton (h), Boro (h), Wigan (a), Man City (h) and Blackburn (a) that with the greatest of respect to we should be looking to beat most, if not all at home and gain at least a point against all the others away.
With the prospect of new player's arriving in January this is all the more possible, with a European place then becoming a far greater possibility. Champions League… having a laugh! But are we…

Champions League may be pushing it a touch to far at the moment (but only a touch... we'll confront this issue more at Easter!) but UEFA Cup has to be a realistic target now. Put together a run that I speak of in the article and we'll be right up there with 3rd at least surely...

I would agree that champions league is a dream that with alot of luck could come true but a UEFA Cup place is for certain. We need to aim high.

Let's not go over board here. Bolton is a toughie, though we owe them one after the smash & garb in Sept. Spurs are getting their act together too. These will be the tough one's then it may get a bit easier. Points on the board are what matters where it will leave us is the the magic question.
