'If It's Football, It's Vital'

David James V Ben Foster

David James will come face to face, with England`s number three Goalkeeper Ben Foster. Foster is on loan from Manchester United and has found himself in the England squad after performing well for Watford.

David James told the news;

'Foster's doing very well. I don't know a great deal about him, but I saw him pre-World Cup. He wants to control his area and is aggressive.

'I can only do what I can do. Mr McClaren has his ideas on how he wants to do things
'I haven't spoken to him but he wants to look at younger keepers. All I can do is keep performing and hope the opportunity arises.I'm not going to retire from England.

'So I hope my performances for Portsmouth are adequate and put me in the window.'

I would recommend that Steve McClaren attends this game but some how think that is unlikely…

McLaren has made his bed so he'll lay in it! Jamo's England career is over if he couldn't get back into the last few squads on his form he never will again. Sure McLaren has his own ideas but he's lost the plot if he ever had it...

foster is better then calamity james but james did deserve 2 be in the england squad
rooneyisgod
foster better than james? load of crap, james is proven, foster is only third reserve at his own club!
paultsmouth
sod off manc. keep taking the pills.
storagematt
I don't know what plant these Utd fans are on but Jamo is far better than Foster. If Foster was any good he would be playing for a much better team than Watford that for sure.
nelson
foster is at watford to get premiership experience before he repaces van der sar. maybe if james werent prone to errors he would still be englands number 1
rooneyisgod
roony still not up with reality or every pundit in the country
russellm
to be honest i am nmore intrested in the issue surrounding kanu
russellm
Jamo was very impressive when you lot came to SW6. I guess past mistakes will always haunt him though.
merlin
yes hes been impressive this season but i think foster is better and more reliable
rooneyisgod
Is that "The more reliable at picking the Ball out of the net" reliable Or wishing he hadn't joined a struggling premiership team reliable. "Better than Jamo my arse" It is now confirmed Manure fans know Jack 5hit about football
nelson
And Foster doesn't make any mistakes does he... I remember at least one, possibly two that BOTH cost Watford goals in their 3-3 draw with Fulham. How many goals have Jamo's errors cost Pompey this season??? hmmm can't think of any there! For that matter how many errors genuinely cost City goals last season and the seson before? His calamaty tag still hangs over him from his time with Liverpool...
pompeyrug
Fair enough McLaren is going for youth but why say he'll pick the most "in form" players if he won't? When McLaren gets the boot lets see which 'keepers are selected? If Watford go down Foster won't stay so he'll be back to third, maybe fourth choice at United...
pompeyrug
I say that FOSTERS is not better than any beer. A mate of mine had FOSTER parents I'm not sure if they were his too. James has been great for us - that has to be City's loss. As for Foster how will he shape up tonight...not another Niemi I hope.
pompeygray
calamity james is always gaurenteed a mistake and seeing as he aint had none lately expect a few to come veryy soon. and i also remember mr james picking the ball from his net when u got destroyed by man utd
rooneyisgod
There is a difference between "picking the ball from his net" and making mistakes rooneyisgod! Not one of those goals was down to Jamo! If Foster wasn't a United player I very much doubt you'd share the opinion you currently do...
pompeyrug
oh i would share the opinion and what was calamity james doing for watfords goal? he got no where near it
rooneyisgod
Of course you would! True, poor judgement on that instance but Dejan Stefanovic didn't help him...
pompeyrug
foster has been better then james this season easily
rooneyisgod
