Dean Kiely: I'll Take My Chance

Dean Kiely has spoken of his frustration at not being in the Portsmouth starting line-up although has refused to throw a strop.
Deano said:

'It's a bitter-sweet time for me.

'This is the first time in my career that I've not been involved in the first team regularly - and it's not easy.

'I felt that last year I made a really good contribution to the side, so to find myself not playing is tough. But I'm not a victim in any way.

'I'm not feeling sorry for myself. I'm working hard in training and feeling physically fit and very good.

'I have to keep going, because you never know what's round the corner.

'If a chance comes along I'll be in a position to take it.'

I don`t think he can really complain can he? When James came in, Dean Kiely was injured and David James hasn`t deserved to be dropped by any means.

Have to feel sorry for Kiely in a way but I'd take James given the choice. Think he'll find it hard to get back in myself though and don't think he'll want to hang around to sit on the bench too long...

Jamo is brilliant. Nothing to argue about Deano. Wait or...

Jamo is better than brilliant! It's amazing how often until a player plays for you you don't actually realise how good he is! I always knew Jamo was good but you often go with what is said and notice the bad not the good...

If Kiely likes it at Pompey he should remain. James is quality and could easily get injured. That would give Kiely his break. We don't want it to happen but if it eventuates we want to know that we have a decent keeper to fill the breach.

He will get his chance, Calamity James will have another of his famous 'butter fingers' moments again any time soon and Kiely will be in, he's too good to be sat on the bench!
Cravens
Kiely has refused to throw a strop because as an experienced keeper he knows how well Jamo is playing at the moment. Thats the difference between Kiely & Ashdown.
nelson
Maybe we should put Kiely in goal against Fulham just so he can handle the odd ball or two.
pompeygray
never easy to keep all the players happy but James when he is on form is virtually impossible to shift.
The Fear
Keily is an awsome keeper, I thought he was fantastic last season, still Jamo has been far to good to relegate to the bench. Jamo has had a much better defence infront of him though!

If given the choice Jamo or Kiely then Jamo will get my vote. Altough Dean Kiely done very well for us last season he didn't keep many clean sheets now did he.....
nelson
One major difference between the two is that when Jamo kicks out it frequently finds a pompey player, as for Kiely they dont not call him distribution Deano for nothing.
